New Build Help

Answer the questions listed in the "Asking for Build Help?" sticky so we can fine-tune our recommendations. Additionally, please answer the following questions:

- What's the most resource-intensive task or program you'll be using this computer for?
- (Assuming this is for gaming) Which games are you playing? At what level of visual quality?

Here are some cheap yet good options for the following....

Case: Cooler Master Elite 310
PSU: Seasonic S12II 520 Bronze
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS50
Video Card: Please answer all of the questions first. (Your answers may also impact the PSU selection.)

I thin before ordering the combo you should of waited & asked the questions in the sticky first.

Also, any chance you can cancel that order? It's really a bad buy for the money considering that you can get the following for not that much more:

$151 - AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition + ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard Combo
$60 - G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 RAM
$70 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
---
$281 plus tax and shipping

Key notes:
- Bettter overclocking motherboard
- Cheaper and therefore easier to upgrade DDR3 RAM
- Significantly faster hard drive
- There's a promo code "EMCZYNW52" that'll knock off $15 off that Samsung drive.

So all in all, that combo deal you bought was a really really bad buy for the money

If you just bought it today or if it hasn't shipped yet, just cancel the order.

And again, please answer the stickied questions. There's at least 4 questions you haven't answered yet from there

maybei should return this?...

Meh up to you if those notes that I mention is worth the hassle of returning the parts.

Here's the questions that you missed:
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
6) Will you be overclocking?
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

It would be too late at this point (at least not without being hit by a 15 percent restocking fee, which would get deducted from the amount that you get credited or refunded).

What that means is that of the $278.50 that you paid for that combo, you would be getting back only $236.72.

If you talk to Newegg customer service before hand and tell them that you're gonna buy other parts from Newegg, they usually waive the restocking fee

Yes, this would require a telephone call.

i'll just build this now and then ask for Upgrade options later on

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
right now i spent 278.50 and i'll probably spend another 200 for a case, PSU and a DVD/ Drive
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
i plan to use to HDMI Output on the Asus Mobo
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP as soon as i get the rest of the part

Yes, this would require a telephone call.
meh i don't like doing the phone return call

Probably won't be that many cost-effective ones for that setup.

Anyway, setup:
$22 - LG iHAS124-04 DVD Burner
$80 - eVGA 01G-P3-1430-LR GeForce GT 430 1GB PCI-E Video Card
$50 - Antec NEO ECO 400C 400W PSU
$40 - Cooler Master Elite 430 RC-430-KWN1 ATX Case
---
Total: $192 plus tax and shipping

If you're using Adobe CS5, make sure you do this hack in order to use the above GPU for GPU acceleration:

i'm sticking with CS4 for now

thanks for the help guys (even though i made a mistake and not asking here first)

its ok if you even get extra cash pick up a f3 500gb spinpoint or a 1tb f3 spinpoint and ditch the one that you got in your Combo. the Samsung spinpoints are very fast drives.
