Hi,

I have just finished a new build here are the specs:

MOBO: Asus P5W DH Deluxe
PSU: 600W
HEATSINK: Asus SK II
RAM: 2gb DDR II
HDD: 250GB SATA
CPU: Intel Quad Q6600 G0
CASE: TT TSUNAMI Dream

A pretty ordinary setup.

The problems is, it wont boot...most of the time.

If I leave the computer alone - w/o power for a few hours it will boot fine, however after an amount of time (seems random) the computer will freeze and I have to restart...except it wont restart.

When I push the power button the fans come on but there is no output on the screen, sometimes it will get past BIOS and begin to boot the OS but then it will just freeze again.

I have tried updating BIOS to latest, disconnecting everything and reconnecting, changing PSU etc etc...no change.

Any ideas would be great, its v frustating. :)

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply :)

Its a 600W Silent EZCOOL Blue LED ATX 600JSP

:)

Btw, I notice that when I push the power button to power ON the computer, if the keyboard lights come on - the computer will boot...when they dont - no boot.

Maybe its a MOBO power distribution problem?

More likely a PSU problem than a mobo problem, but could be either or, or both. I'm too lazy to lookup that PSU, lol, sorry.

Very little info on that PSU online. Which is already a bad sign IMO.

But I think both the PSU and the mobo are the problem now. That PSU may have ended up screwing up your mobo. Hence why it's so flaky. I recommend replacing both the PSU and mobo. RMA the mobo back to Asus and get a better power supply.

What's your ram? It's new? How many volts is it supposed to run on? How much you giving it? At whatever it's programmed spd for, it should run at stock 1.8v, but...

failing ram would definitely cause nonboots and in the beginning, allow booting after a few hours.

QFT.

I wouldn't be so quick in blaming the PSU, something tells me it could be the memory. I would try to troubleshoot the memory first, replace it if possible.

I had a flakey DVD drive give me the exact same problem. Strange as it was. Took me forever to finally fingure it out.

Also, are you running the latest BIOS for that mobo?
