I've been asked to build a desktop for nephew, doesn't need anything hard core just something that will last, not be too slow, and handle light games like Mincraft and maybe LOTRO. I had found some things but wanted to get other opinions so I know I'm building him the best I can for the budget
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
He'll use for web browsing, games like Minecraft, Lotro, and school work
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$500 with some wiggle room to go up from Christmas money. Tax/shipping not included
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
US - NJ
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Thinking:
Case
Processor
Motherboard
Ram
Monitor
PSU
Video Card
Hard drive (doesn't need to be SSD)
May end up needing wireless
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Have nothing he can use
6) Will you be overclocking?
Nope
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Needs a monitor but nothing big
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
This week preferably
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Doesn't need much just USB
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
His dad is an educator and I believe can get Windows 8 at a discount, right now not including in the needs. Will pick up whatever works for the build
