last time around i bought an sis chipset and a a64 3000+ 939 off of ebay which ended up being a winchester not a venice and a sapphire x850xt which overheated the motherboard was absolutely terrible not doing that again

heres my list total price 551$ shipped with 55$ mir 1 25$ + 1 30$

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L -90$ +shipping i dont think any explanation is necessary i mean its practically a household model #
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128337

Intel Pentium E2180 -70$ Allendale if i were to spend any more i may as well get a q6600 which i cant afford
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116052

OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB -44$ + shipping with 25$ mir this is where i cut costs really need to drive down the initial expense it should be fine though i can always add more
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227139

ECS N8800GT-512MX+ GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 145$ + shipping last i checked the cooler itself was 30$ and that didnt look like it included the fans they were 9$ both included this way your basically guaranteed cool and quiet card and you hear all kinds of issues with peoples cards and fan speeds i can just twist tie a 120mm fan to it
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134035

LG Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 23$ again cutting costs but this should be fine
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136117

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148262

these last 2 are where im not 100% positive

case
Rosewill RZS06 SLV Black/ Silver Sturdy SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower 27$ + shipping not the best but great price and this will be my first time modding and im not skilled with tools at all so this will be nice i can go to town on this case without worrying about wrecking it i like the layout its nice that its smaller because im going to be taking this back and forth from college to home
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147088

powersupply both made by seasonic both have active pfc
Antec earthwatts EA430 60$ w/ 30$ mir inexpensive if the rebate works reliable and with the case i plan to get i like how it exhausts air out of the back it probably runs cooler than the other idk though
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371006

this is my 2nd choice i didnt pick it because it would make me have to order from another site making my order that much more complex but it is a better deal
modular more power aesthetically superior really surprised its not in the [H]ot deals
SEASONIC SS-600HT 47$ + 8$ shipping
http://www.hypermicro.com/product.asp?pf_id=PSSS003

Rosewill RTK-002 Anti-Static Wrist Strap 3.50$ +shipping good measure never hurt anyone

now i could have saved 4$ from ordering my motherboard and harddrive from zipzoomfly but id rather have 1 simple order

il probably get a ninja plus down the road and mod that case so id have 2 intake 120mm and 2 exhaust 120mm maybe add a side panel window or a handle on the top

only issue i have is im kind of terrified to flash the bios i just really dont know

I'd swap the Seagatedrive for this WD AAKS drive and potentially get the newer revision that's almost as fast as current Raptors:
Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $60

Well worth the hassle of orderin gfomr a different site.

The EA430 is a fine choice. It's pretty easy to flash a Gigabyte mobo. Just read the manual carefully and you'll be fine. Don't ever update the BIOs while within Windows. Never a good idea.

Also, you might want to take a look at the P43-DS3L. It's $10 more but has two extra SATA ports and PCI-E 2.0 support. Those two features are worth the extra $10 IMO.

- 8800GT is a bad choice when you can pick up a Radeon HD4850 for just $10 more.

- That Rosewill case seems like a piece of crap with some annoying fitment + airflow issues and shoddy construction. Do yourself a favor and get something quality like an Antec Three Hundred or Coolermaster RC590. They are constructed far better and are designed from the ground up for maximum cooling.

Note the price of the 8800GT he chose: $145. The cheapest HD4850 is $200. Price difference of $55. At $145, the 8800GT is a good choice.

im getting that hard drive instead its even .5$ cheaper free shipping +70gb is nice

yea im contemplating that motherboard i dont really care about sata ports the pcie2 is nice i also heard something about a die shrink on the chipset from the p31/35 to the p43/45

i just picked p35 dsl3 because ive seen so many posts and threads and cpu-z's with successful overclocks and its a bit more mature

but would the p43 ds3l definately oc equal to or greater than the p35 ds3l

should i also consider getting maybe an msi or biostar p43?

where can you get a 4850 for 155 i game at 1680x1050 and will be folding as well

what turned me away from the 4850 i only see less expensive cards from less reputable manufacturers (the ones with worse warranties)+ rebate hassle+ worse cooler+ hot card i am however considering the diamond 4850 at zzf for 190 with 25$ mir

as for the case i really cant increase the initial expense i might just use my old case im trying to stay right near 500

Wrong. Price of the card he chose $145 + $9 shipping = $154. 4850 has been available for $150 AMIR twice now since launch and fairly close to that sans rebate. So no $150 for an 8800GT is not a good choice.

Since Eaglelake is basically a die shrink with minor improvements on bearlake, as well as bearlake being already mature from the start, Eaglelake won't need much time to mature, since it, too, is more mature than normal at release.

Yes, the P43-DS3L will definitely OC the same as or better than the P35-DS3L. I'd wait for reviews on the Biostar and MSI board, since they sometimes have first releases that need tweaking to get OC'ing right.

Yah, but he's ordering a bunch of other things from newegg, so its actually only ~$3 shipping for the card (~$25 shipping for everything, remove the vidcard, and shipping drops to ~$22).

I agree that he should wait for a deal on the HD4850, if he can front the extra $50 for the upfront cost. If he can't, he'll have to settle for the 8800GT, unfortunately.

from what i understand those 4850 deals were very much ymmv i could be wrong a

rebates are going to be problematic for me
ive had rebates for video cards that took like 4-10 months before i got them

not only that but i just read that im not eligible for at least one of my rebates and ive had rebates for video cards that took like 4-10 months before i got them im going to be hours away from home leaving in mid august they send me a check in the mail and who knows when or if i would get that

i used to value a rebate at half of its value and after realizing this i may just say too hell with rebates products

ive also been somewhat interested in having a motherboard with onboard video particularly the g31 chipset so if i upgrade to a q6600 with p35/43/45 i can use a video card and still fold on my e2180 so tell me how much my build would be gimped if i bought one of these

BIOSTAR G31-M7 TE 50$ free shipping mostly solid caps no reviews though anywhere also i havent heard good things about biostar rma
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138125

GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L 60$ + shipping i heard it had some oc options but not a good oc mobo overall good reviews good rma again mostly solid caps
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128078

i dont know if you think boards with igp are viable but i would have been much much better off if my last motherboard had onboard video i think these things have some ocing capability and ocing is never guaranteed anyway and with me having to repair my car and take out a loan for college real soon that biostar is looking increasingly appealing

edit: and if i did get a g31 id get 2x2gb of memory and the only reason i wouldnt get an nvidia chipset w/ igp is no dual channel and hotter chipset

Yes good point on the combined shipping, hadn't considered that. Still it's not $50 extra upfront for an HD4850. $175 shipped is the lowest price for an HD4850 without any special discounts or promotions and it's been stable at that price for over a week now. Both $150 deals were also $175 upfront with $25 MIR. But yeah if you can't afford the extra upfront there's really no point debating the matter further.

G31/G33 boards still OC quite nice for IGP chipsets -- something that wasn't possible before these chipsets. Of course, you won't get the same overclock ability, but you will be saving a nice chunk of change (with a G31).

NVIDIA has dual channel, but can't OC as nicely as the G31/G33 chipsets. I'd go with G33 if you could, just for the little extras, but dropping to the G31 shouldn't hurt performance much -- and yes, the gigabyte board still OC's nicely (not sure on the Biostar).

G31 vs G33 @ Intel

Another option is to just pickup a cheap, used vidcard later, to use on a P35/P43 board instead. I've sold several PCI-E (x300, x1300, 7200gs, etc) cards for $10-$20, and I've seen many for sale around that same price, too. ;)
