Looking to build a new gaming PC, Id like to put something together that can run anything I throw at it . Id like to keep it around $1100, If lower great. I will be using a 25"-27" monitor wit ha 1080 or greater native resolution, but I dont plan on have a triple monitor setup.

So far I have this

CPU- Intel Corei5-2500k 3.3Ghz
Mobo- Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3
Ram- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
VidCard- Geforce GTX 560 Ti (Unsure if this card is my best option)
Powers Supply- Cosair TX750M
HDD- I am kinda unsure on this, should I get a really fast large HDD or should I get a smaller SSD?

I have case, media drive, cooling, mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

Im pretty sure this will meet my demands, but am I over doing it or under doing it with this build? Im tryin to build something I can upgrade later on, my last build I chose poorly in the mobo/processor department.

Why have you decided on the 2500k/Z68 instead of the 3570k/Z77?
There's no wrong answer, just be sure you know why you're choosing one over the other.

As for hard drives, I recommend a 256GB SSD and a low power slower 2TB drive for storage. Add another 2TB drive for backup.
 
Honestly, I didnt even see the 3570k/Z77 when I looked earlier, I saw the 3770k at $100 more and read nothing but praise on the 2500k so I figured I keep my price down. is the 3570k a better quality CPU or is it negligibly faster?

the 3570k is arguable equivalent to the 2500k. It depends on how much they cost for you. If you live near a Microcenter, either is a viable option at ~$170/$190 for the 2500k/3570k, respectively.

The subject of 2500k and 3570k has been discussed many times before. You should read in the Intel subforum. From what I've gathered, in short, if you're not an extreme overclocker, there's no reason to get the 3570k. Supposedly the 3570k overclocks to a tad higher frequencies but has less performance when at the same clockspeed as the 2500k. Some also claim that it generates more heat, but it may have a lower base voltage & power useage.

So the main difference boils down to the chipset of Z68 vs. Z77, for which the only major improvement is PCI-E 3.0. That doesn't mean anything unless you plan on using $500+ high performance video cards. So again, the difference is negligible.

Did you mean to say the 2500K generally oc a tad higher than the newer 3570K, but will have slightly less performance than the 3570K at the same clock speed?

As for the heat output, the newer 22nm parts will typically run cooler than the 32nm parts until OC'd past their "heat wall" of around 4.4 - 4.6 GHz (with required Vcore to get them higher than those speeds), depending on the individual CPU.
 
yeah, I'd read a bunch and figured eh, they're about the same. so I may have gotten it backwards.

Please answer the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST!" so that we can help you better. Several of your parts aren't good choices. Also please be specific about the case when you answer question 5.

Actually the other major improvement IMO is native USB 3.0 support with the Z77 chipset. Which means that whatever Z77 mobo you get will have front-panel USB 3.0 ports whereas not all Z68 mobo do. Even if they did, they're always 3rd party USB 3.0 controllers.

Yes on the Z77 vs Z68.

As for the GPU, it depends on what games you play. Even at 1080p resolution with a single monitor, there are some games that greatly benefit with the new 600 series compared to the older 500 series. Look to the future, as undoubtedly more and more games will be coming out that will use and actually need the extra horsepower of the 600 series. As for todays games and even very near future, you'll be fine with a 560ti 448c or 570 if you want to save some bucks now then upgrade later to a 600 or even a future 700 series GPU.
