New Build Advice

Hello all, I was in the process of building a computer when the recall on the sandy bridge mobo's stopped me. I just wanted to run over the list to make sure everything looks ok/ will work together...

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

Gaming, some video encoding/editing, web browsing, medical related stuff (X-ray, CT Scan and MRI via remote desktop.)

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

~3,000 including monitor... a little wiggle room is ok here.

3) Where do you live?

Kansas City, MO

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

MOBO, ssd, graphic cards, HSF, windows

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

6) Will you be overclocking?

Yes, first time doing so.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?

Dell UltraSharp U3011

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

Now

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.

I would like crossfire, not sure about the rest

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

HD1- I would like a SSD thinking the C300, though I am unsure if there are any better ones that have come out recently Need to buy

HD2-Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive Need to buy

Case- 1 x SILVERSTONE TJ10-BW Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case Reusing

Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Reuse? Would this be ok to reuse or is onboard sound same or better?

Monitor: Dell u3011 have

Anything I am forgetting? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Looks good to me. Gof for the C300 SSD or wait for the C400.

However I would not reuse that PCI sound card since it will block and/or impede airflow to the bottom HD 6850 card. I recommend either picking up a PCI-E x1 sound card or finding another motherboard with a PCI slot that doesn't impeded or block airflow to any of the video cards.

Thanks for the quick responce Danny, how about Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional 70SB088600002 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card instead? Would that work better?

Here's the problem:

Creative's sound card hardware and drivers have had bugs and compatibility issues with modern systems. Sometimes, the drivers mess up the sound from the card, forcing you to reboot your system and risk a loud pop just to get the sound back.
