I'm looking to put together a new build and wanted to get some opinions. I'm looking for something which has good all around performance and that's reasonably quiet.

Budget: Under €2000 (I live in Ireland, though will probably buy from the UK).
Components needed: Everything except the keyboard, mouse, speakers/headphones and a non-OS drive.
Usage: Games, programming, browsing, general experimentation.

Proposed Build:
CPU: Intel 2600K
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO
Memory: 8GB Corsair DDR3 8-8-8-24
Graphics Card: 2GB AMD HD6950
Storage: 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 MaxIOPs SSD (may be overkill :))
PSU: Corsair AX750
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-B123L Blu-Ray
Monitor: Dell ST2220T (just an idea, monitor wise I don't wanna go TN)
OS: Windows 7 (not sure which edition yet)
Case: Not sure yet

So, any advice? Any help is appreciated.

6) Will you be overclocking?
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.

Also, which RAM set is that?

Hi Danny,

Thanks for the reply.

6) Will you be overclocking?

Maybe at some point, though it isn't a hobby/pursuit of mine.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Currently have a 20 inch 1680x1050 res monitor, but it's on its last legs now. Looking for something with at least a 1080P res and a VA/IPS panel.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Buying in the next week or two.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
I'd like USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s.

Also, which RAM set is that?
Corsair Vengeance

Case wise, for quiet gaming, I recommend these:
$127 - Fractal Design Define R3 Black ATX Case
$160 - Silverstone RV02B-W ATX case
$230 - Silverstone FT02B ATX Case

RAM wise, do note that there's little to no real world performance between DDR3 1600 and DDR3 1333 RAM. So if the price difference is more than 13%, just go with the DDDR3 1333 RAM.

Motherboard wise, it seems to me that you would be fine with this mobo:
$140 - MSI P67A-G45 Intel P67 ATX Motherboard

OS wise, you should be fine with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
