New bigadv project - 2685

Looks like they are processing faster than the P2684 according to the TPFs being commented on in the EVGA forum. That will be great for the SR-2 folks.

Yea thats what i have been running that gave me those huge numbers on my E5530s.

What's the memory requirement for the P2685, similar to the P2684? Is the P2684 still going to be issued?

Very good questions. The eVGA link did not provide any of those answers and the FF link is down.

i have a 2685 running right now on my 2008 box and its using 1,232 MB of ram

I just switched my sig rig from SMP2 to BigAdv. It'll finish what it is currently working on in about an hour and hopefully I can pick one of these up. It might make up some of the lost PpD from losing my other i7 rig.

Just changed the flags on Nexus.... 2 hours till it finishes the 6070 it's working on (not bad because it's only 11% done with it).

I hope I'll pull one a bit later tonight and I'll update.

So, all we need to receive these units is the -bigadv flag then?

ok. I got one :D

Literally just picked it up. I'll provide numbers in a bit. This is running on i7 920 @ 3.9

Will there be enough of these in the wild that we won't have a shortage like with P2684? If so, I'll switch over ASAP.

I think the shortages thing is the biggest question I have...
Added the flag in mine again, might as well since 6071's have went public anyway.

I'm getting 42m TPF (I am also driving 3 x GTX285's for 33.3K PpD) on an i7 @ 3.9 (185 x 21).

PpD is about 22.3K PpD. Much better than I was getting with 2684 and definitely better than 670x.

I REALLY wish I hadn't lost my other i7 rig this morning

I just got another 2684 on one of my I7s. I have another one that should finish up in a couple hours, so hopefully I can get a 2685 for comparison.

I've only done one frame, but HFM.net says that Nexus should do ~67k ppd, 20:21 TPF

Edit: 2 frames in, Still same TPF

god damn.. well that explains in friggin massive ass points spikes EA has been having for the last 2-3 months..

Keep in mind this is with E5530's OC-ed to 3.8GHz and RAM running at 1600MHz.

But if this is stable and holds out, I just doubled my whole PPD farm by getting this SR-2. HFM shows a 108k PPD for my farm now.

3 frames in 20:19, 67k ppd

I pulled one a couple of hours ago. So far, so good. HFM reporting 26,000 ppd with TPF around 38:10. i7-860 @ 3.8

This sounds alot better than the 67xx I keep getting lately. I just pulled one about 10 minutes ago, so I should know in about 35 minutes how this looks for me :D

How is the availability? Is everyone picking these units up without getting anything else first?

Just grabbed one myself, added the flag to both of my i7 clients earlier today and the first one just finished it's other WU a minute ago and picked up a 2685.

My dedicated boxen is still doing a 6040 (huge mofo! 10,207 pt credit, TPF of 09:44), that's got a few more hours left before it tries to grab a new WU but hopefully that will grab a 2685 as well.

^^^ Same here, seems like at least ATM they are available. ;)
Early reports are promising (compared to 2684 of course). :)

Well damnit :(

My rig just finished a work unit and picked up another 2684. I would have loved to see how these new 2685's would run on my rig. Lets hope that this is the end of the bigadv shortages for the time being............

My stats on 2685 so far - after 2 frames (2%)
Project: 2685 (Run 6, Clone 15, Gen 5)
i7 920 d0 @ 3822 (21x182), ram at 2:8 728mhz (1456ddr)
2 gpu2 clients (2x 260)
FahCore_a3.exe 1,112,936k ram usage
HFM.net calculates - 42:09 TPF, 22,505 PPD, 2d 20hr 50min ETA, 65,876 credit (DL time 01hr 31min ago)

MUCH better, this is more like A2 bigadv numbers here. Looks like those type of total crunch times, slightly above on the total credit. Very nice.
Now I just need to finally get around to reimaging my dedicated boxen from xp64 to 7x64, and then upgrade my nV drivers on my 2 gpu machines and switch to gpu3.

Got an hour left on my current unit, set to draw big adv next, hope to have 3% by the time I get off work, I'll report back with TPFs and settings for dual 3.85 ghz, hope to get it up to 4.0 tonight, no work!!

I got one with running with a gpu-2 client, i7-860 @4.0, 36:24 27,996ppd for a total of 36,680ppd. turned of the gpu client to see what it can do.

Yeah my other boxen grabbed a 2684 late morning.
Definitely luck of the draw. :( oh well

Geez! Do you all have the Advmethods enabled also? Or just bigadv?

No, only bigadv....very important that you do not have advmethods enabled, they will conflict according to Dr. Kasson over at the FF.
Run -bigadv -smp flags only - if there is a shortage of WU, the bigadv flag will DL a advmethod WU on its own. Don't use both flags though.

Run with the -bigadv command line option. Depending on the work unit availability, machines requesting bigadv may roll over to normal -advmethods.

4) If you are already running the latest F@H SMP2 Client and have been qualified for the Bonus Points, use the -oneunit flag. After the F@H SMP2 Client exits, replace -advemthods flag (if you have it) with -bigadv flag. Do not use both as -advmethods may override -bigadv.

that must be the reason my SR2 hasn't picked up a single bigadv since I cut it loose.

Yeah, check my edit...
apparently advmethods will override the bigadv flag. :( sorry man. Remove it and you should be good to go! :)

its not that it overrides it.. its the way its designed to read the commands.. watch put -smp -bigadv -advmethods and i bet it will pick up a bigadv WU.. because the client read -bigadv first before the -advmethod and vise versa.. but thats an educated guess because im friggin bored right now..
