For the ATI folders there is a new core out. Just a heads up. Just stop the client, delete or rename FahCore_11.exe, and it'll download the new one.

Being a little "lazy challeged", will this new core automatically DL when you go to a new WU or is the only way to get it is by stopping the client, renaming it or deleting the older core confused:

ATM I don't have a ATI GPU, but they're lookin' "muy" interesting. :D

Unless you get a work unit which require a certain version, it will use whatever is there. So the only way to get a new one is to delete the old core (renaming work better since you keep it around in case the Pande Group mess up again as usual).

Thank you brother Xilikon and brother [H]ugh_Freak :)
I don't care what anyone says, the [H]orde forum is the best place to get questions about computers (software, hardware) or folding (DCing) answered :D

so when will they fix the cpu usage and optimize for ati cards?

i'm looking at getting a 4850, but holding off to see how well it does. (by the numbers its a terraflop or so...so it *should* go fast)

How did 1.17 work for you?

I'm just curious because I have two 4870s at home that went from stable (non oc) to constant EUE once 1.17 hit.

Running in XP SP2 mode seems to have fixed it. (Knocks on particle board)

We'll see if it runs through the night.

My CPU usage went way down when I downloaded the new core. Unfortunately, the client then decided to EUE every single unit it got after that, so my GPU is now down :(.

Edit: Set the client EXE to XP SP2 compatibility mode and it's running now. Very weird issue.

Glad it worked for you.

Yes, it is a weird Issue, and yes I am awesome.

Believe me, no one can figure out why this is needed on Vista.
We have been tralking about this for weeks.

Heck, even Pande added it to the official Q&A because it was working so well so solve the EUE problems in Vista.

Vista is weird in reguards to security and permissions, so that is the working theory.

I am just glad we found a workaround, so everyone can keep the WU running.

It may be that it uses a specific version number of a XP Driver Link Library that Vista has an incompatable version of.

I'll have to try this. Compatibility mode is set in the shortcut to fah.exe, correct?
