I'm currently running 2816 beta on my Strix-F Same setting as on 2608 - more or less. Been running since last night. No hickups, no oddities, so far. was gaming some hours after the update and performance seems the same or slightly better. I guess you force yourself to believe you are seeing increased performance after these updates. I guess the real increase comes into play when you bench certain areas. Not sure. Bottom line is, works without issues as of this writing.

ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT BIOS 2702

constant reboots and freezes, unstable atm.

I sent in my motherboard for them to play. Lets hope they release a BIOS ASAP when they figure it out!

With my last ASUS motherboard, I don't remember this high frequency of releases. Or maybe I wasn't paying close attention.

How can we get confident about a specific release, before it's replaced with a new one. :barefoot: Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I would prefer fewer releases, but which are (1) not beta and (2) tested thoroughly.

Just saying ... :censored:

The number of these BIOS updates dropping, lol. Guess I'll get onto 2816, but no doubt my video input won't work as usual and I need to do a board reset to get it back. Still no idea why that keeps happening when I do a BIOS update.

Most likely they bricked something as we are the beta testers. Use your voice and send feedback. That way they can improve their BIOS releases.

I installed the latest stable bios on my x570f last night and one behavior I noticed that I really like is now my processor (3800) boosts like crazy. In games I’d rarely see it exceed 4450mhz but now it’s chilling at 4525-4550mhz. I ran r20 last night and scored 5004 multi and 521 single which is on par and beating 9900K so that’s nice.

i do have a 5800x that will be here tomorrow

Got in the 5800X and I've got poor benchmark scores.

r20: 5302 / 581 (multi/single) looking for 6000+ and 620.

Flashed to the latest BIOS beta "C" patch, no change in scores. Ideas? clocks are maintained at 4.85GHz in r20 single and in multi all cores are 4.60-4.65 so clocks are good and my thermals are fine, h150i 6 fans push pull. I'm idling in the mid 30s lol

I got my RMA RAM back from G.Skill. Going to update the Crosshair VIII to the latest and see what happens.

So I got question on my Crosshair VIII Hero. It is currently using BIOS ver. 2311. There have been 2 non-BETA BIOS' released since: 2502 and 2702. 2502 has the Patch C for AGESA 1.1.0.0. 2702 is a BIOS beyond that. I know it may sound like a silly question to ask but if I upgrade to 2702 from 2311 and skip 2502 will I still get Patch C for AGESA 1.1.0.0? Thanks in advance for your advice and answers and until next time I am out!

Yes, you can assume that each BIOS beyond a major patch will include the prior patch.

X570F got a new official "3001" BIOS today

Version 3001
2020/12/08 19.85 MBytes
ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING BIOS 3001
"1.New CPU support
2.Add a ReSize BAR shortcut for AMD SAM support

Before running the USB flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (SX570FG.CAP) using BIOSRenamer "

Since I don't need BAR support (3070) I'm going to hang out on the last beta just a wee bit longer with no other major improvements. 5800X is running great

Is the jump to a 3000-series number significant? Like bigger changes than normal between 2000-series versions?

Not that I am being overcautious or anything like that, but I'm still running 1408 on a Strix-E with 3900x. Maybe my rig isn't completely optimized, but I have had exactly zero, nada, BSODs or sudden reboots in over six months. That's worth something.

Just updated my X570 TUF wifi to 3001. I don't OC, so I don't know if I'll be of much use when talking about OC stability.

Actually the download file for the Prime pro Asus forgot to add the bios lol its just the bios renamer file

previous bios files are 20Mb this one is 71.17Kb

Version 3001 2020/12/08 71.17 KBytes
PRIME X570-PRO BIOS 3001
"1. New CPU support
2. Add a ReSize BAR shortcut for AMD SAM support"

I found the correct file on the UK site

https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-X570-PRO/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Both the US site and the Tw site just have the bios renamer, someone must have screwed up the links when posting.

Wanted to point out two users over on this German forum I like to read (has modded BIOS w/ PCH fan support) says the 3001 BIOS doesn't play nice with 3080 cards. Both failed to boot and had to flash back to 28xx.

Anyone else experience such? Both users were able to restore using bios flashback. I have a 3070 so I'll wait I think.

Also, apparently BAR resize works with nVidia? Is this correct? Is it currently working?

Upgraded to 3001 (from 2802) on my TUF Wifi. This version doesn't like my manual RAM timings/voltage and I'm seeing the reboots and lockups again. Switching back to D.O.C.P settings seems to resolve. Might try pulling the CMOS battery and wiping one more time.

3001 works pretty well on my strix-e. On a 5800x it took my 3800 cas 16 16gb dimm settings without issue. For a separate reason I ended up swapping a 3900xt in and it took the same settings w/o issue as well. And to top that off 1900 fclk works with soc at stock voltage on both chips. For the record it's been months since I had a bios that stayed consistent in regards to memory timings and settings, 2816 to 3001.

2802 broke compatibility with my system's current G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3600 64 GB kit. With this BIOS, my system will now only rarely POST at all at the XMP settings no matter what I tried. I had to back off the memory speed down to DDR4-3466 speed to run stably.
All BIOS versions since 2802 did the same thing - until I realized that the Ryzen memory controller does not like multipliers that do not divide evenly into 133 MHz (in terms of the Infinity Fabric frequency). This means that the effective memory speed should have been in multiples of 266 MHz. And as it turned out, 1800 MHz (or DDR4-3600) is exactly halfway in between the two preferred settings of DDR4-3466 and DDR4-3733.

Today I tried a memory speed of DDR4-3733 speed (with the Infinity Fabric set at 1866 MHz) with the current BIOS version 3001 (for my ROG Strix X570-F Gaming), and lo and behold it worked consistently (though I manually translated the memory timings to 19-23-23-44 based on the XMP timings of 18-22-22-42 @ DDR4-3600 speed). Weird, indeed!

It's funny the modded 3201 bios was posted before Asus made the 3201 available on the global site.

The bios download on the ASUS site appears to be down atm, not sure if they found some critical problem or if it is site maintenance.

Now they removed the 3201 bios completly.

Finally got around to flashing the 3201 modded bios. I got roughly a 100 pt r20 boost, not bad. Setup my 3800mhz profile on my 3900xt, did not have to touch soc voltage as expected, it took my dram timings etc w/o issue. It seems stability and dram compatibility is further improved. 3201 adds SAM btw for ryzen 3k.

The modded bios unlocks parts of the original bios. I'm not sure anything was developed or new features added in. For ex. it unlocked PCH fan control so now you can set the pch fan to zero speed for instance.

Ugh. Random failures to POST at that setting. It was back to square one, and then tried the Ryzen DRAM calculator again. This time, I exported the RAM's XMP from Thaiphoon Burner, then imported the XMP values (in ns) into the DRAM calculator. I had set the IC type to the Hynix CJR/DJR setting (whereas I had previously used the Hynix MFR setting), then entered the resulting values for DDR4-3600 speed into the BIOS. This resulted in Windows posting consistently, but the system was a bit unstable at this setting (Premiere Pro would crash on me). So, I upped the voltage to 1.42V (whereas the CJR profile suggested 1.35V) that was used for DDR4-3466 speed in the MFR profile, and all is well so far.

And note that instead of using the D.O.C.P. profile in the Asus BIOS, I left it on default but set the timings and voltages manually.

Yeah, I just noticed the 3101 for C8H is missing now, too. Glad I didn't upgrade, I guess.

EDIT: Someone posted this on the ROG forum:

Shamino said at overclock.net why it was removed, because of non booting issue with certain 3300X:s, it should be good to use with all other supported CPU:s.

Still, think I will wait for an official release.

I'm pretty happy with that bios, not one whea error and I'm running 16gb dimms at 3800/1900 w/o touching soc voltage.

Beta 3102 is currently up:

Version 3102 Beta Version
2021/01/06 20.38 MBytes
ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO BIOS 3102
Update AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.1.9.0.
Improve ReSize Bar function
Improve RAID function
Improve system performance and compatibility

Looks like the same patch notes as beta 3101. Presumably fixing the boot issue they had with the 3300X or whatever.

Upgraded to 3102 on my C8H non-WiFi. So far so good, I had to go back in and enable DOCP for the RAM speeds, but everything seems to be working well so far. No sign of Curve Optimizer in the BIOS yet, though.
