Those aren't too bad. 580/585s are much worse when running 100% cpu lol.FYI - those things put out a TON of heat. We sometimes get 40 - 50 degree temp differential on ours.

For example a low priority, non-redundant Cisco 2950 access switch at Site 2 on the EECN would be represented as such.

I have to admit I got rid of all my old Dell 2950s, and HP DL385s because they were too noisy and power hungry.
By the way, if anyone has any PowerEdge 2950 III's or HP DL380's that they no longer want, please PM me. I'll pay shipping to take them off of your hands.
I have large-ish out-of-warranty VM clusters based on both server types that we are always looking for parts for.
I just sold a working 2950 III for some good money locally. I wouldn't give one of those away.

www.cables.com has a good price on them. We use the C13/14 ones in our datacenter.
As suggested above, new cpu's & a new psu as one is dead![]()
YAY!
PSU's are a common problem with these....
Don't leave them on standby.... Ie plugged in but server not turned on....
They cook themselves. And hence they die.
You can test why, by plugging in your power meter.... Feed power to server.... But don't turn it on.... See how much power it drags.....then realize the fans don't spin and you will understand why they die.
If looking for a replacement, try and find ones with part number RPS-800 I think they are... Last gen and they seem to last longer.
.
Why would you use those in a datacenter?? It seems like a single point of failure for redundant psu's.
Usually you put each PSU on their own UPS and circuit (power feed) so it's fully redundant. Putting them both on the same circuit only protects it from a PSU failure, not a circuit failure.
Dash- Why do 16gb now. Why not just save, go for a full 32 or something, and save yourself the money later, when you most likely will use all 16, maybe all 32?
I have an HP w/ 16gb, and I use it all... sucks...
I would love to pick one of those up, but for now I need to save for a newer car.
What socket are those processors?
Dash- Let me have a look this afternoon- just for shoots, I think I have one laying around here I can send u..
No- thought i had some CPU's, turns out I didnt. Let me know the specs on the PSU, i have access to some dead HP boxes and I can see if any are matches
That one of the 775 socket boxes u got?
oh my..you win some FAT FREE
