Network pics thread

I really like them. Still have 3 EMC SAN..but they are not in the same league at all. We also have a Pillar and a bunch of Powervault.

Shouldn't those boxes be wrapped in colorful paper and be adorned with bows and ribbons?

Just got home from a starting project, tonight mounted the rack on the wall.

then to tackle all the wiring under the desk about 30 runs to be moved...

Bare wall..

all the pretty blue wires, go into the cabinet, into a patch panel..

Soon as I get a house I will be hooking up all my servers and wiring them up. So be looking for my pictures in about 3 months now.

What kind of EMC gear do you have? We are trying to decide to stick with EMC (have a CX4 and an AX4) and just replace them both with 2 VNX or go with Compellent.

Don't bug him so he can get all that stuff on boxed. You can figure out your SAN stuff later..

PS I'd toss in a Vote for the VNX, but thats just me

I'll have some more input on the VNX here in a couple of weeks after I get our 5500 installed and vSphere & View migrated.

I have Compellent onsite in 30 minutes to go over pricing and the buyback on our EMC equipment.

got a few moments of time today, punched down 6 runs. have about 10 more to do at home here..

Love seeing some cisco gear there dash!

I really need to start posting pictures, we are trying to close on a house God Willing so I will post then. I have a 4k UPS to add to the network, plus some other cisco equipment. But I will be wiring the house God Willing with enough wire for a business...

We have some CX4 and CX3.

We looked at the VNX for like 3 seconds...no real tiering..no thin provisionning...out

Really happy with Compellent so far.

racking is completed...pics soon..

wow, while EMC hardware I think is pretty sexy, that Compellent array looks damn good.

Will be nice once its on Dell hardware at least the controllers will look a little better. :p

We got pricing yesterday for the two compellent arrays. Pricing is where it needs to be, we just have to figure out what to do with the CX4. The higher ups in the business will want to see it leave our books and get sold but it has very little value.

I think early next year we will be purchasing Compellent

New server I was working on the other day. HP ML370 G6. This has to be my favorite tower server of all time, just fantastic design and expansion capabilities. This is for a SBS2011 transition for a client that leases their server so they get a new one every three years. The other server in the picture is their old ML350 G5.

Specs:
Six-Core Xeon @2.53GHz with HT
18GB RAM
HP SmartArray P410i with 1GB Flash BBC
2x 146GB 15k SAS for OS
4x 300GB 10k SAS for Data, Exchange, SQL, etc

Something else I'm working on right now. 5x Cisco 3560E-12D switches. Will be used to build an EIGRP mesh campus network for a school district. I wanted 4500E series but budget wasn't there. With these they have hot-swap PSUs and fans. Will initially start out with gigabit fiber, 5-6 sites all connecting to each other. In 1-2 years some will roll out 10GB connections.

captian, those are some nice HP servers for sure, how loud are they ?

Whats the cisco gear in the rack ?

This week i installed one of these, cisco wave devices and a 2911

210924091.jpg

Stolen from Hardforum :)

but i installed one of these at a site i was at.

c2911.jpg

The wave device was explained to me, as a cache server over vpn, it sync's data that always goes over the vpn on each site.

The ML series HP Servers are loud at start up and then quiet. You could sit next to one and as long as it's not under load you wouldn't really notice it that much.

Some crappy cell phone pics...

Is it a public school district? Are they purchasing through e-rate?
I'm surprised they wouldn't want the 4500 series at their core. Would they have been willing to open an RFP for refurb cisco equipment?

We can't purchase refurb when buying with e-rate funds but our bond allows us to use monies how we see fit so we are getting refurb cisco gear. The vendor we deal with gives us lifetime warranty on the refurb cisco gear we buy so we don't have to worry about smartnet for it.

Nice to see Cisco is still taking other people's chassis and painting them Cisco green. All though in looking at what that Wave unit it does thats pretty spiffy.
