I'm building a hadoop cluster on cheap commodity hardware and here are boxes two through five:

Frankly I am amazed how cheap hardware has become. 8-core opteron processor, 4x1TB SATA drives (in fakeRAID-10), 16GB RAM, full functioning remote management with console in a 1U case for $1700.
 
Now with content and less rancor!

What do you think of those supermicros? We just bought out a place that has a lot of them. Other than the fact they are loud as hell in the little server room I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them.

For what it's worth the network pics v2 thread that was locked has been unlocked. Not sure what the general consensus of the group is, but I know I'll go back to posting in that thread instead of this one.
 
i would tent to agree, and just use the other thread, as on bored days its fun to see everything and read comments. i am not sure why the hostile moderator in this forum, seems to over moderate threads that really need nothing and lets other bs slide......

After poking around the list of moderators for H today it doesn't appear that It's going to be a problem any more. Let's let it go, stop chatting about it and move on and post yer networkz p0rnz
 
Since everyone else is posting pictures of those crappy black Arris modems, here are both of mine. (The rest of the house is wireless btw.) (also don't get started on my horrible cable management, been to busy lately with studies to setup the rest of my network :) )
