Netflix Needs To Crack Down On Sharing

I shared for my first month or two but then came to the conclusion that it's so damn cheap, why pawn off someone else account? Plus having your own instant queue and video selections is worth having it on your own.

I just wish Netflix had some decent content to stream.. ever since they lost the Starz package, their content just seems to be getting worse and worse. I pretty much stopped using it as a source to watch movies I like since there just never seems to be anything available which isn't already available on TV service streaming. The bulk of it's use now is to entertain my son when I get ready in the mornings, but even then, they are losing a lot of children's content as well.. it just seems the amount of content they have keeps shrinking.

That said, I've kept my streaming service since it launched, if they did do a plan change, it would be enough to make me re-evaluate keeping it.. especially since I also have Amazon Prime which as far as I can tell is the exact same content.

No whiny entitlement, it simply is not worth it to me if I can't tell my friend I'm not using it right now go ahead.

Straight up consumer decision.

They are telling you that already just not doing shit to enforce it.

They are enforcing/letting it happen. If you have too many devices logged into the account it won't let the newer device stream. Think its 2 to 3 devices on one account at the same time. Would be cool if they offered a streaming service that let you actively stream to 10 devices got like 15/20 a month.

When the fuck are people going to get it through their thick heads that $8 isn't going to get you a full on buffet of new release content!? People bitch and moan about wanting more content, but piss and whine like bitches when they have to shell out a few more bucks. If you don't like it, go get another service that does give you that. Oh, what's that?? You mean nobody else does that either because its financially impossible?? Well fuck me, who would have thought.

I never want DVDs back. I just want Netflix to have a larger library for streaming. They can drop DVDs entirely imo. I'm sure it costs a lot of money to handle the physical distribution, and for worse quality than what you can just stream over the internet.

If I absolutely want to watch something in 1080p with DTS or similar quality audio I just grab a BluRay rip.[/QUOTE]

And here is the problem. Why don't you take a few dollars and buy the dang Blu Ray? Or subscribe to the same dang service that sends you them for a nominal price. But nope. You are a thief. Good for you.

Fricken pathetic. I'm sure you that you have spent the money for the hardware capable of utilizing the HD audio and true high def video, but oh no gotta steal the content. Can't support the efforts of the people who spent time and money creating it. This new pirate counter culture (who always has some idiotic excuse) is getting silly. Grow up. Go to work. Or save your damn money and buy the fricken movie (or game). If you can't wait until you can afford it like the rest of us, then you are the problem - you think you are entitled to it. Get off your fat ass do something else than watch TV or play video games if you don't wanna pay for it. Eventually its going to catch up to you and I'll laugh.

Sorry for the rant. I'm sure I pissed off a bunch of theives who in their twisted minds justify their activities. Continue on.

Netflix is one of the few good things that has happened to humanity IMO.

I ditched the whole Netflix thing back about a year ago. Been with Amazon Prime and Hulu + ever since.

Almost everything on Netflix I can watch on Amazon, sure Netflix may get a new movie a few months in advance, but I dont watch enough TV to justify Netflix anywhoooo and streaming from Amazon was free for me cause I payed $80 for prime shipping ;)

Oh and plus, if I really want the movie, or like it when I saw it in theaters, if it warrents a blu-ray purchase, so beit! :)

Netflix as a streaming-only service (they really shouldn't have split off mail) is far from essential. Many people, like some posters here, have kept the plan because of the relatively cheap cost, even when they hardly use it. And sharing? I'd I assume that even amongst two people it isn't getting a ton of use in many cases (this was my situation).

My point? The LAST thing Netflix should do is make you more aware of the cost/service. It's just not up-to-par. I payed for it about a year too long myself.

I don't use Netflix, but I do have an Amazon prime membership, where do I find the free streams? I only see where you have to pay like $2 per show to watch. Do you "own" that or it it like a PPV?

Do you have full paid amazon prime membership? Free memberships don't qualify for the free streaming.

I will check when I get home, but I swear they all require me to pay to watch.

Only a small portion of the Amazon video library is available for free streaming (the majority is still part of their Ala Carte selection or rentals/PPV) ... none of the three main subscription streaming services is yet a drop in replacement for the other ... Netflix still has the best overall selection (depending on your tastes) ... Prime at number two (but with many other non video benefits of the membership) ... and Hulu a distant third for movies but well positioned for TV (especially current TV) ... I think over time though both Netflix and Amazon are going to sink big bucks into their streaming selections and we should see improvements in both ... I don't expect to see too many changes in Hulu until they sell the service

On the free streaming titles, you should see $0.00 for the cost,

I don't understand why people are so anal about $8 bucks a month. I spend more for a pulled pork sammich with fries and a drink at a lunch time food truck than a full month's worth of Netflix.

What I'm not a big fan is changing their policy from where they stood before. Initially they said that no we do not limit our customers viewing. They proceeded to limiting without telling viewers. Now they're saying they're going to charge users who are logged in simultaneously.

I'm on the same boat as the others who have mentioned a household with multiple devices.

I can see limiting like 10+ users for people who abuse things by distributing their passwords, but it's never been an issue in the last few years till now? Seems like a money thing than an actual bandwidth cost to them.

They have already raised their prices and haven't improved the programming or streaming quality (they have even lost some of the best programming since the fee change). So yeah, they can raise the fee AFTER they improve the service. I'm not going to pay more for a crappy car in the hope that the company makes a better one a few years down the road.

Eh, it's a non-story. Netflix had already addressed the sharing issue by limiting how many devices you can watch their streaming service under a single account. The armchair "analyst" is making a big fuss about nothing.

If they continue with the original content, prices may go up a bit. But, judging by the quality - I'd pay it. Especially if they picked up Jericho (they have been in talks with CBS) :D

If they can become a true studio and continue to have shows like HoC, HG, and AD I wouldn't mind paying more. I mean I pay $30 for Showtime and HBO and I only watch two shows on either.

WAAAAAAHHHHH---I deserve EVERYTHING, for what *I* have to pay with! I deserve EVERYTHING, there is no such thing as luxury to me, it is all basic necessity and everyone should give it to ME!!! /sarcasm

Seems most everyone is self-entitled and has few, if any, morals or the understanding to even realize that.

Maverick and Goose is a better love story than twilight

Also there's some woman in the movie but really that's just a Goose stand in

This about sums it up. You can argue that $8 is nothing for a month of streaming content but the fact is, people weren't bitching about the service before the price hike like they do now.

Netflix raised the price without adding any value -- that's a recipe for disaster. And it made its customer base acutely aware of the streaming service's current value, sadly ranked pretty low by the majority of its customer base.

Maybe if they had done a little PR they could have prevented a lot of the backlash. I know that higher licensing fees led to it. But the move was seen as just plain shady by most people.

Its a silly feature not worth the added cost. What I would pay an extra $4 bucks a month would be newer movies and other premium content like HBO, showtime, Starz, originals. And More current episodes of Shwos on TV rather than Waiting a year or more. also the anime selection is lacking. They don;t have enough 80's comedies like My Blue Heaven and police Acedemy. Better content and more of it wis worth money. Streaming on multiple devices as long as you are signed in should be just a given.
