Every review I have been reading says you cant do multitasking on these things but I'm curious as too how far it can go? Can I MSn and watch a movie at the same time? Can i download multiple things as well at the same time of doing those? Can anyone share their experiences with this?
Thank you

I have an original netbook (1.6GHz N270, 1GB RAM) running Windows 7 and I can do all of that with ease.

I can multitask just fine on my Wind-I usually have digsby, winamp, utorrent, and firefox open at any given time (not to mention NOD32 running in the background). Having 2gb of ram helps. They aren't that slow. Just don't expect to be able to watch 1080p video or play any modern games.

I'm basically sold then. The only real bonus thing for me now is if I can find one with a HDMI output. My TV VGA doesnt work.

Should probably state what you intend to multitask with, everyone's probably got different programs running.

I think it is taking it too far in general netbook multitasking doing 10+ firefox/chrome tabs on sites with moderate flash content, having a 720p-size show in the background, all the chat stuff, and antivirus/burning programs running at the same time.

The Acer Aspire 1410 Dual Core makes an excellent case for itself for HD video, HDMI, dual core multi-tasking etc at $350.

Ya depends whatyou consider multi-tasking...

IE, FF , IM, winamp and such it can handle, if your not viewing any flash heavy sites of course.

but multi-task like edit some photos, IM, IE, watch a movie and unzip something, go have a coffee and come back.

Well I've been checking out this acer only issue seems to be it's tough to find in Canada at a good price and I have a feeling that one gets hot.
Thank you

I have a Gateway version of the SU2300, and it doesn't get too hot. Fan kicks on only now and then. My Powerbook G4 12" gets hotter than the SU2300.

my Eee 1000H will easily handle Opera, VLC, Pidgin, OpenOffice 3.x, Eclipse, JDeveloper, and multiple explorer windows open at the same time, along with Spybot and AVG in the background

its running Windows XP and I did upgrade it to 2GB of memory

now, I'm not saying its easy to keep tabs on all of that stuff (there just isn't enough display space), but it all runs just fine

like m3ta1head said, no 1080p and no demanding games, all is well
DVD's and most 720p content seems to be fine though (although I've no idea how you'd actually watch the movie and get work done with the screen size, but that wasn't within the scope of the question :p)

Well he did mention getting a netbook with an HDMI output so my assumption is that he's looking to output video to his TV/monitor.

EDIT:
oh.

very well then
