Antec Neo Power EX
Anyone have seen these before? They are sleeved and have uv lights on them. I really would like to purchase one, but at a price of $190 they don't sound too convincing. Let me know if you guys can find anyother place that got them for cheap.

The people at performance-pcs.com modified those units, and if you look, they only have a 30 day warranty for all that bling. Unless you want to pay 30 dollars extra.

Personally, I'd avoid that one and stick with a regular Neo, if any.

Wouldn't the acrylic shell allow more EMI out which would otherwise be blocked by the steel casing?

absolutely
and its one measure no reviewer touches on
Ive been trying to cobble together the necessary equipment to do a competant review
and have been looking at Gaussmeters but they are still fairly low on my list of needed equipment

just to nitpick EMF would escape
once picked up by something it would become EMI ;)

$190? LOL get a PCP&C for that price

Agreed - I like the Neo and the Channel Well EX line it's based on, but no way no how am I willing to pay that much for one. Especially with such a short warranty, and the RF sheilding issue.

$190 for an Antec?

Where's the line for the crack start?

;) Seriously.... Your money is better spent elsewhere if you want a modular power supply. The Modstream is better... Hell.. Even the Mad Dog would be a better investment. ;) If you HAVE TO have an Antec, get an Antec, or any PSU for that matter, and buy a cable kit from Ultra or A.C. Ryan and day-glo your own cables.... but stay away from the all acrylic. You're introducing too much EMI into the rest of the PC at that extreme.

If you want acrylic and day-glo, I know a power supply that I often use that does me well, has lots of juice on the 12V, but if I bring up the brand name, Ice Czar leaves a bag of dog-doo on my front porch. ;)

I like Performance-PC and I dig what they did to the Turbo-Cool with the modular cables, but to do all that to an Antec and charge $190 is the epitome of the "polish a turd" (albiet a quite decent turd) analogy. ;)

of course EMF does fall off in an Inverse Square so proximity counts ;)
(twice the distance one quarter the strength)

and you could even build a wire mesh faraday cage for an acrylic PSU enclosure
that would work nearly as well as a steel box

point is they dont do that, youd have to
the OCZ Powerstream (and modstream?) have that Titanium Plating not only to look cool but as an extra (but likey very small) added protection against EMF leakage

Maybe if they used some leaded glass, like the stuff found in X-ray rooms, nuclear reactors and the like. That would look cool, and would shield from EMI/EMF. :p

*searches google for leaded glass*

Never mind the fact that that would look cool too... At least IMHO.
