I just got a geforce 6800nu recently, but I really wish it was a 6800gt. :( I wanna take back the 6800nu to get the gt, but I am short on money. I need 100 more bucks.

...I might ask my parents today...I'd feel like a piece of shit though...

The 6800nu is an awesome card, nothing to be sad about. If you are worried about "Medium Detail" in Doom3, don't, cuz most won't be able to tell the difference between compressed and uncompressed.

yeah, the nu is an awesome card, but the GT is still a hell of a lot better.

I guess it depends what res you play in, if you play in 1600x1200, yeh, but if you do 1024x768 or 1280x1024 the 6800nu is great.

Grow up and spell like an adult. It will gain you more respect, and reap you better replies from better educated posters.

2) If you need cry to mommy and daddy for money to buy PC equip just so you can brag about your frame rates, GO GET A JOB. I did when I was 14 (22+ years ago), and have supplied all my own comp parts since. Grow up.
Otherwise, turn down the detail levels, and live with what you (and mommy and daddy) can afford.
FPS does not dictate the enjoyment derived from playing a game. If you have a good time playing, that's all that matters. Stop paying so much attention to the FPS counter, and have fun playing.
 
im trying to find a review that compares the 6800nu and the 6800gt in terms of framerate at 1024, 1280, and 1600, anyone know a review that has this info?

It certainly doesn't hurt you if he's talking about how he can't afford a video card. I'd agree, kind of a pointless conversation... but something like that really prompts you, a 36 year old, to start dictating your animosity in point form?

In reality, It doesn't make a diff in my life.
But money hungry/fps counting children need to understand there is more to life than counting frame rates in computer games.
If someone's mommy and daddy want to feed that kid money to boost their ego over a frame rate in some game or benchmark, fine by me.
But as a father of two pre-teens, my answer to my kids when they ask for money for a hardware upgrade is "can you play the game?" If the game runs playably, they don't need to ask me for money to upgrade. That money is better spent on food and medicine. Too many kids these days can't seem to understand this fact

Well, I would have to agree with him. I am not a parent though, and don't care to be :)

Lots of better things could be had with a $100 or more than a few extra FPS. Unless of course you can really afford throwing around money. However aye, it's personal preferance.

Purely imo.

Can my kids live without food? I don't think so.Can they live without medical checkups and immunizations? Maybe, but I'm not willing to take than chance for a video card.

Yes get a job, i'd like to upgrade my poor 9500 modded to a 9700, but i cannot really afford to do so. I bought the 9500 because there was a good chance i'd get a lot of value out of it, and i did. Working sucks, but the payoff is nice :)

EDIT: the fact that he admits that he wants money from his parents says he doesn't care if has to asks...

kruzin...his parents might be rich...you dont know....my family isnt rich....but my dad is splitting a GT with me...thats 200$....and we eat ALOT....and well still be able to pay the bills and eat regularly..........therefore just cause YOU would go hungry over video card doesnt mean HE would....and the 6800nu to a 6800gt is a big jump if his monitor supports 1600x1200...so quit teasin the poor guy....

Yeah im in the same boat but I dont really care to much about the extra ram now. Sure have I wanted 256mb with a 256mb bit. Yes just like ive wanted the DDR3 but then 6800 is a great card and the core is just as good as the ultras. The extra 200 to 300 mhz of ram is not worth 100$ to me now. Just keep it at a nice res and 4xaa and your set. My cores at 420 and my mem is at 845

yeah, but the ultra has 4 additional pipelines, which is a bigger deal than the extra clock speed.

And how the hell do you guys get such high clock speeds and keep the system stable?? I have low temps, but I can never get high clocks and keep the system stable.
 
Well yeah that would help... for now ive got to many games to buy. Im fine with the 6800 thank god its not another 5600.
 
[H] rules but people will always be people....mean....i think its ok for you to post about this kind of stuff.....if your bored DO it....its ABOUT a video card...people just need to stfu and not post if they dont like why your posting something....if i were you i would get the GT.......it runs FAR better at 1600x1200....but it isnt a tremendous difference...so if your really broke right now or dont manage to get up the balls to ask your parents....the 6800nu will do you just fine :D

leright. even at a more mature forum, there are still going to be some people that don't have nice video cards but wish they did. and where these people exist, there exists jealousy which turns threads like this into a disaster!
 
or theres nothing to be gained from this thread at all and people clearly state that fact. I can afford a new computer in fact my new computer will probably be a A64 3500+ 6800Ultra/X800XT system that I'll upgrade to 90nm A64-FX when it comes out finally, but yet I still see no value in this thread.

Theres no question, no discussion, you just say you want a GT instead of a Non-Ultra so you're going to beg your parents for money. Postworthy? Hardly.
