My daughter brought her laptop over to me cause she was having problems with the audio not working. I've looked in Device Manager and it is showing a problem with the drivers installed. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating, and even using the old driver disk I have and nothing has worked. Can anyone give me another option to try to get the audio to work?
BTW, it's an Asus laptop about 5 years old with Windows 7 Ult. installed.

With a laptop that old, it's not out of the question that the audio could in fact be defective. Have you tried doing a fresh reinstall?

That's actually what started the problem. I gave the laptop to my daughter, so I did a fresh install to remove all of my junk from it. Ever since then I haven't been able to get the audio working correctly. I originally had XP installed.

Hmm, any chance that you can reinstall Windows SP3 in trial mode to rule out a Windows 7 issue?

Not sure. I did try to do a fresh XP install before W7 but it was saying the software was no longer supported so I went ahead and installed W7.

Just a quick update. I did resolve my problem....by installing XP Pro SP3. I guess it must have been some compatibility issue with W7 cause everything is working perfectly again. Thanks for the suggestions Danny.
