I want to get a dual core opteron 175. But I want to know if the board supports an X2 will it support the Opteron without a problem? I need to know this asap. Thanks

I'd say there's a pretty good chance it will support it, but you didn't tell us what kind of board you're talking about.

Most boards will support x2s/optys with a bios upgrade if not out of the box.

I've only heard of one board that DIDN'T support an Opty even though it supported an X2. MSI Neo4 Plat SLI I believe...and I'm not sure it wasn't caused by user error yet.

It should with a Bios update, however, which board are you talking about?

Best bet would be to check the manufacturer website to be sure......but I believe they do.
