I was at a yard sale today and I was able to get a Dual P2 server (needs ram and processors), a dual socket 370 p3 server (needs ram, processors, and Pwr Sup), a 24 port hub, 12 port switch, and a server rack that stands about 4 ft tall. I need some suggestions on what to do with the hardware? Keep it? Trade it? Make a fort out of it?

Any suggestions?

I'll take it off your hands :D

Fort sounds good, or DC parts swap thread.

Is any of these computers worth the time and effort for folding? I am using 450, 500, and 700 MHz processors in my farm. I kinda like the P3 rig, but not so sure about the P2 one.

Marty would have fun with that p2, and the p3 will be fine. That's my suggestion.

If there's 64 bit pci on that p3 I'll buy it, depending on how much you want for it. PM please.

I'll donate a P3 1.0 if the board on that dually P3 will handle it....

I have to get some manuals on these servers first. Its gonna take some searching. Will keep you all informed.

ok. so what I have found is that the P3 server takes the 133 FSB chips. PC133 ECC ram, has the two SCSI ports on the front, and has one 64 bit PCI slot. Still looking for the PS.

Damn, that sounds like the type of board I wanted way back when. I would never have been able to afford it and never really looked into getting it but I still droolled anyway. Hopefully you find the info you need.

If you post the model number of the board, we may be able to help you find what power supply it needs.

Its a proliant DL360 Generation 1 (their are like 3 or 4 generations). Its in a 1U server case.

Oh crap!
I have a stack of em at the office.
I'll check tomorrow to see if I have one we can part with!!!

We still use the newer generation of DL360.... mainly for our Citrix farm and a few Application servers.
So in total I HAVE to donate: memory and 1 p3 1.0ghz
and I MAY have the PS.

I'll touch base tomorrow afternoon.

Sweet! Twice the crap in 1/2 the space. :D

I go to pickup the 4 foot rack on Wednsday or Thursday. I am glad that you might be able to get that stuff. Is their anything that you want for it?

karma

What kind of freaking' yard sale is that!?!?!?!?

All the ones I go to are like old decorations, clothes that smell like hot garbage, and MAYBE an overpriced PackerdHell 486 with 13" VGA monitor.

Ok I don't have any available PS's.... sorry.
I do have the Socket 370 P3 1.0Ghz 133fsb chip and a stick of pc133 256mb if you want it.
The PS you'll probably have to go to eBay for....

could you get power pinouts for the PSU? it'd probably help a lot...

interesting yard sale, lol

as mentioned above, all I ever found was a 5150 IBM PC

(new record, I got to mention the original 5150 pc twice today!)

The guy either runs a website business or work for the government. He wouldn't delve into what he did. I asked why he was getting rid of it. He said the had got a newer 5 foot rack and was working with 6 new quad processor servers and didn't want this stuff arround in his garage.

Believe me. In the years I have been doing this, the only thing that has come close is the 20 inch monitor I am still using that was $15. I will continue to search for the power supply. I know a few IT guys from work who might know how to get one really cheap.

As for the pin layout, It takes a 24 pin connector to the mobo. Any suggestions where to find it at?
