So my friend is upgrading his PC and asked me to help. $300 is what he has to spend. (maybe $330)

He has the fallowing mobo, ASUS P5BW-LA (Basswood). He needs new GPU, PSU and case his current PSU is only 300W. He told me that he wants to get the fallowing GPU, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161292&cm_re=4870-_-14-161-292-_-Product Can you recomend something better for that money? What recommendations you guys have for the PSU?

Main PC role is Gaming.

He just sad he felt in love with the Antec 900. With that case what would good PSU/GPU ?

Thanks

What CPU does he have?

Oh and u can do so much better than the HD 4870.

Also there seems to be a disconnect with what ur friend wants. Why are u asking about a mobo in the last paragraph when in the first few sentences ur asking for replacement GPU, PSU and case?

In this case, it also depends on the CPU that your friend has in that PC. (Remember, that P5BW-LA motherboard is an HP-specific motherboard from Asus; thus, it has no tweakability at all whatsoever.) But the CPU that's installed on that motherboard will hold back the performance of most of the GPU "upgrades" that we normally recommend for newer and higher-performance systems.

Without any other analysis, for $300 you could probably get a 5830 and a psu. I normally wouldn't suggest the 5830 but this combo saves $40 which is decent.

XFX 5830 + XFX 650w

For cheaper options you could go with the 5770 + psu:
XFX 5770 + XFX 650w

Or even cheaper you could go with the earthwatts intead of the xfx
XFX 5770 + Antec EA650

Hope this helps, but also answer the above questions ^^^
