Need new CPU for encoding purposes

I need a new Intel proc for video encoding purposes, what would be the most cost efficient?
would a 2.4C suffice?
Key word here being cost efficent....i'm on a budget btw i already have the intel board so no need to buy new board

and less than 180

don't those prescotts drain alot of power from the board?
and heat the board up alot?

The prescott chips do tend to draw more power, as well as generate more heat then their northwood counterparts.
