Whats a good pair of closed cans besides the DT770's? I have a amp to power these and I dont like the sound of the DT770's.
 
The A900, AKG K271s, Beyer DT 250-80 and DT 990 are ones in the same price range as the 770 that you may want to do a head-fi search on.
 
they are meant for DJing i think, should sound pretty good, "but" analytical.. compared to others.. what are you gonna do with the headphones? in detail
 
They do isolate like the dickens, however. If you are looking to seal out noise, they are highly reccommended.
 
Gonna be for mainly my pc. Playing games, listening to Mp3's mostly. Other than that not much else.

If possible I'd rather get the coiled cable set instead of the straight wire type cans. That shit always get caught in your wheels of your chair.

I got a solid amp and im looking to spend whatever as long as they are good quality. I listen to metal mostly so I like a heavy powerfull bassy sound.

Ya the reason I want sealed is that the AC in my room is noisy as hell and it drves me nuts but its the only way to stay cool in the summer.
 
What don't you like about the DT770s and what is this mystery amp?
 
The bass isn't that great, It kinda sounds sloppy and the highs arn't as clear and accurate imo. I've had have the 250 Ohm ones now for a few months now, maybe i'm just getting sick of them.

I have a prometa amp made by you Mister X :p

After doing some searching these cans caught my eye. I may have to test drive these myself since I cant find any reviews on these.

The bass and highs are two of the 770's strong points, usually when someone says something about the bass it's because they aren't getting enough juice or there's an impedance matching issue.
What is this solid amp that you speak of?
 
maybe it's time to move to a more powerful amp or the lower ohm version. I have the 80ohm version with my PPA and love them for DJing and they make great cans for games like BF2. Most cans would just blow up at the bass thrown at them from BF2.
 
Well I ended up getting the Audio Technica ATH-A900's and I couldn't be happier with these. They sound all around better than the 770's The bass is deeper and is much more punchier, mids and highs and much more clear and just dont sound painfull when loud.

As for comfort these are awesome, you don't even notice your wearing them on your head.

Anyways thanks to those that recommended these, freakin awesome cans.
 
Good choice, I just got my pair on friday and so far I am really enjoying them. They are definately a step up from my Senn 555s.
