need mobo with 8 ram slots

OK, im building a computer for an artist friend of mine. He specialises in high detail prints around 6' x 10'. He has asked me to build him a pc strictly for using photoshop cs2 and image manipulation software. His only requirement is it has to have 8gb ram.

Now heres where im stuck. Are there any core 2 mobos that will take 8gb ram in 1gb chips? (ie 8 slots) or are there any 2gb chips available at the moment? If not can anyone recomend a xeon cpu and board combo that will be reliable and not cost silly amounts of cash.

My next problem is do i go with xp pro 64, i would i be better off going straight to Vista, i just dont want any problems with setting anything up. Does anyone know of any problems with photoshop and vista?

There are 4gig matched pairs on the way (2x2gig) so 2 of those would give you 8 gig. Whichever way you go about it 2gig dimms or server side boards its gonna cost a bomb.
 
On the OS check availability of 64bit drivers for all anticipated hardware, XP-64 bit is stable and runs nice but constant trouble with finding printer and wi-fi card drivers.
