Have an Antec Mini P180. Was going to mod so it could fit full ATX board but not in the mood to mess around with it right now.

So now i need suggestion's on what MicroATX board is best. Below is a list that I am looking for performance wise.

-Intel Based
-Quad Core Compatible
-over-clockable.
-DDR2-1066mhz or better
-2x PCI-E 16x slots (hah... only dreaming)

--------------------OR-----------------

AMD platform with phenom support. I wouldnt mind building a phenom for the first time. But as long as it is cheap.

-spec's for the board can be the same with above /w the intel based.

thanks guys

780/790G is best for AMD, the Gigabyte board is a great OC'er.

For Intel... You can go with G33/G35 if you can find the discontinued GA-G33M-DS2R or the P5E-VM HDMI; or you can wait for the new G43/G45 boards and some reviews -- some are already out, but I havent read up on them yet. I assume they'll be just as good or better than their G3X predecessors.

The G33/35--Intel GMA3100 does not support HD Video encode/decode. The AMD 780/790G and Intel G45 do, though... in case you wanted that.

If you want to run a single card, right now it is the P5E VM HDMI.

Avoid the gigabyte G45 board, the PCI Express slot is only 4x, not 16x.

If you wait awhile the Asus G45 board will be out.

The DFI crossfire board looks hot, I ordered one also, hopefully there will be no DFI bad surprises with this one.

I will put another vote in for the P5E VM HDMI. I have one in my linux box that runs great. It is quad core/45nm capable and has some good overclocking features.

P5E-VM HDMI or DFI Lanparty JR.

Don't buy the Gigabyte G45 board, it does not have a PCIE x16 slot, the slot it has is only x4.

Ooohhhh, I so want that DFI board! Come on, someone buy the last five so I'm not tempted! Can't justify $190 for a secondary system, but would love to play with crossfire in a mATX case.

Back to OP's question, I have a Gigabyte G31m-S2L board, and it's been great. Runs my Q6600 at 3.0ghz without a sweat, and has booted my my E7200 at 3.8ghz with a few volts thru the northbridge (not using on-board video, of course), but I haven't gotten around to stress testing the OC. Northbridge cooler is kind of smallish for OC, though, I'll probably replace it (the northbridge cooler, not the board!)

I couldn't imagine the heat that crossfire would put off in a mATX case. I had major heat issues when i had an 8800gts 640 in my Apevia Qpack 2. It would be cool if you could get it to work though.

I have that same S2L board and am running a Q6600 at 3.3Ghz. For $60 or so, hard to beat. Obviously that DFI board is sweet, but that's a lot of cash. The only reason I'd get that is for crossfire.

i'm also running the Gigabyte G31m-S2L , Q9400@ 3.6 Ghz / 4gb memory / 4850 No problems what so ever

very good board , stable , previously had my E2180 @ 4ghz 10x400

 The multiplier can't go to 4, so its not a 1000 typo... fsb can't reach 1000 anyhow...

i dont think you will see much performance gain over the ddr2 lp jr (3 left). unless you already have some ddr3 laying around.
