so,I got my second gtx 260 working again,well I got the coil whine under control with some nail polish and hot glue lol,both are installed and recognized by windows.

The problem is when I try to launch the second gpu it gives me and error message saying "at present your gpu is not supported or needs a current driver' I have the 258.96 drivers installed,I followed the multi gpu setup guide here on [H],the sticky seems to be missing now.

does any one know how to get the second gpu to work,or maybe tell me what I did wrong.

also,the cards have 2 different clocks,how would I go about overclocking both of them,It shows 2 gpus being monitored in msi afterburner,but I can only adjust the clocks on 1 card

You are using the GPU 0 and GPU 1 flags in your client startup parameters, right?

Umm,not sure,I put the flags in the shortcuts,I dont think the guide mentioned messing with anything in the client,but It was late and I could have missed it.

where would those flags go in the client?

Not sure if you have to, but i would just make sure.

After you start MSI Afterburner you will set button or a just a word labeled "Settings" Click it.

  • The next thing you will see are the option settings for MSI Afterburner.
  • You should see a drop down box for selecting the GPU you want to control.
  • Click the down arrow and select the desired GPU.
  • Click the "OK" button.
  • Then go make your settings for the currently selected GPU.
There are more options setting you may also want to make.
  • Start with Windows = checked
  • Start Minimized = checked
  • Unlock Voltage Control = checked
  • Modify the second tab so your fan profile is better defined.

would I need to uninstall the current clients and delete the shortcuts and stuff that I made before

Depends on how you want to run and configure you clients. The simple answer for the tray or the console client is no. At least for the way I do it.

For my setup I run the GPU clients as Console Clients. For each GPU I have made a separate subdirectory. In each subdirectoy where the clients are installed I have modified my "client.cfg" file to include the relevant GPU number in the file as part of the configuration.

To start the client I chose to make some shortcuts that call the executable for each.

Example:
In "C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Folding@HomeGPU3Beta\GPU0\client.cfg" here is the content of my client.cfg file.

Code:
[color="#EC0000"][settings]
username=[H]ecklerKoc[H]
passkey=***************************************************
team=33
asknet=no
machineid=10
bigpackets=big
extra_parms=[B]-gpu 0[/B] -forcegpu nvidia_fermi -advmethods -forceasm -verbosity 9
local=1597

[http]
active=yes
host=***.***.***.***
port=****
usereg=no
proxy_name=
proxy_passwd=
usepasswd=no

[core]
priority=96
cpuusage=100
disableassembly=no
nocpulock=1
checkpoint=15

[/COLOR]

There are more ways to do this than the methods I have chosen.

awesome,thanks for the info HK got them both up and folding with the GPU tracker program and both GPUs overclocked,thanks for all the help guys. I think I need a bigger case so I can space the cards more.

GPU 1 is running at 58C and 8k ppd
GPU 2 is running at 71C and 7k ppd,could not clock as high as the other card

just need to get a different cpu cooler now,the stock one works great,for the mild OC I have on it,but the fan on it has a temp sensor,so when the air is cold blowing across it the fan speed wont increase like it should even when the core temps are over 63C,it just stays at 3k RPMs and as far as I can tell, there is no way to manually control the fan speeds.

Assuming you installed the GPU2 client, you needed to add the "-forcegpu nvidia_g80" to the shortcuts in addition to the -gpu flag. This was not mentioned in the guide, but it's related to the new Nvidia drivers and modern OSes (Vista/Win7). Since you got GPU Tracker working, I'm just posting this for reference.

750W should handle your setup with no problems.

So,I woke up this morning and one of the gpus had stopped working or something cause there was no activity on the core and the shaders and memory were all in 2d clocks.

I tried restarting the client and the computer but the second gpu just sits idle,But the client says it's running.

Any idea what I could try?
