Need help with choosing an audio interface

Hello to all,

What I have now is an MAudio Fire Wire Solo. Always having "no sound" issues. I want to get something else as I am tired of messing with this unit for the past two years. I only need a unit that will allow me to hook up my KRK 6 monitors/speakers and my Seinnhauser headphones to listen to my computer audio. No mixing or stuff like that. My pc is an iCore7 WinXP with a Gigabyte mother board and onboard RealTek sound chip and using the internet through the Wifi router connection. Its a good compture but just has the basics. I have looked at DACs but for the money it looks like an audio interface would work better for my needs as Im not an audiophile guy.

Any suggestions on what I should look for and something that will run good on Windows OS. Just dont want to buy another unit if it is going to give me problems like the P.O.S. maudio unit does.

Do you have a separate amp for the headphones? If so, an HRT MusicStreamer II would work, or an ODAC from JDSLabs if not. If you want something on a tighter budget look at Fiio's DACs. A USB DAC is a type of audio interface (as is an internal sound card), not sure why you'd be looking for something else while at the same time saying you don't need any extra inputs for recording etc. I'm confused by the distinction you tried to make...
