Need help with ATX cables!!

Ok I got the 24 pin ATX out of the way, but now I'm stuck with the other ATX cables.

I have a MSI P67-G43 mobo and it has 8 pins for the ATX. One of them is covered with a small black shield so only 4 pin is showing.

So for my PSU it carries a 4+4 ATX/EPS. Do I just plug one of those into only the ATX port thats showing on the mobo? Or should I remove the plate and plug both in?

And while we're at it, I also have a Radeon 6870. It has 2 PCI-E slots and a small 2 pin piece attached to it. Do I put in both PCI-E plugs onto both ports of the graphics card or just one? And whats the 2 pin piece thing for?

Also, I have one molex port thats just hanging loose (coming from the fan). Are all of the molex ports suppose to be connected? Why are there two male and female ports?
 
For the motherboard, you can go ahead and remove the plate so you can use the 4+4 ATX/EPS port.

Which brand/model video card do you have? You need to connect two PCI-E plugs to the video card. (I can't help you on the 2-pin "piece" until I know what video card you have).

As for the fan, the male Molex port (the one with the pins sticking out) can hang loose. That male port allows you to connect another device (with a female Molex port -- the one with the holes) to the fan and have multiple items draw power from one PSU Molex port. However, some devices don't gain enough power from being daisy-chained to the fan (via the fan's male Molex port).

Basically, connecting all 8 pins of the 12v ATX input allows more power to go through the motherboard, aiding in voltage stability. Some motherboards require the use of an 8-pin connection for overclocking, while others need it just to run. Check with your board's user manual to see whether it requires a 4-pin or 8-pin connection.

What 6870 did you buy? XFX? Saphhire? What's the model number of that particular card?

If the "2 pin thing" you're talking about is from the power supply cable, it's an additional two pins for the PCI-E connector to use with power hungry video cards that require 8 pins instead of the standard 6.

Aside from the fan(s) on the CPU cooler, you should have at least two fans running in your case: one as an intake fan, and one as an exhaust fan.
 
It doesn't say whether I need a 4 pin or 8 pin. It just shows an 8 pin input with the specs and says "The JPWR2 powers the CPU".

And the video card is a XFX AMD Radeon 6870

XFX has different models of the 6870. What is the model number of yours: HD-687A-ZNFC? HD-687A-ZHFC? Something else?

Yes! That's the 2 pin thing thats connected with the PCI-E cables into my video card. Am I suppose to connect that somewhere?

And for connecting all 8 pins for the ATX cables for CPU.. that won't necessarily run at 200W all the time now would it? I know some mobos only need a 4 pin ATX and mines was blocked off (though the mobo manual doesn't necessarily say to use all 8 pins). If I plug it in,will the CPU use more power or will the extra 4 pins just keep that as a reserve space just in-case the CPU does get overheated or overclocked?
 
In your case? No. Just leave it dangling. Just connect the 6Pin portion to your video card.
