First off this is a mobo/mem/oc thingy so if not right place sorry not meaning to rile anyone.

Hello all I was wondering if you would be able to help me pick best choice for a 4gb kit
I have an ASUS P5K(vanilla) mobo bios 0704 with E8400CPU cooled by TT dual heatpipe 92mm fan was made to cool prescott. my case CM cent 590 with 2 kaze 89 cfm 2 110 cfm jyuni and 1 54 cfm 80mm as well as the 2 stickj ones with it( so cooling seems sufficent :)

Anyway I am currently using Corsair XMS2 6400 can run topped out 989mhz on ram best yet cpu and ram was 3.95 and 870 or so with 5,4,4,8 timings and 1.95v
I need or looking for a nice kit that will be fully compatible with my mobo and will allow me to oc to a nice 4ghz or so(stable can clock to 4.25 but not stable for long 4ghz orthos, occt fail no matter voltage on cpu or ram or nb) and as side note my board or cpu not greatest? as need to bump 2 bumps to 3.6 cpu but no bumps to 3.49 or so 3.95 need a touch over 1.3 to stable it of course vdroop( i think is called) is pretty bad on this board

Anyway thank you all for help.

I say just go with the cheap stuff. That 4GB kit of G.Skill DDR2-1000 I've seen suggested time and time again on this forum. The 5-5-5-15 timings aren't exceptionally tight but you really won't see a huge difference. And they can't be beaten for the price. I have a set in my P5Q Pro with an E8400 E0 stepping overclocked to 4.0GHz. Can't recall the voltage offhand. Something like 1.36 VDrooped to 1.34V. But your mileage may vary. And my temperatures are nice and low. Processor idles around 38C.

everybody uses the g.skill ddr2 1000 pq. it goes for around $40 or $50 now. but they have several great kits, the pq 1066, and the pi 1000 and pi 1066 are newer kits. any of them are below about $75 and all are terrific. i havent used corsair or mushkin since the sdr days.
