i had just rebooted after yet another 100Ghz overclock and was going back to folding away, when i got same randome error. i am using linux so it told me what the error is but i have no idea what it means. i would like to have some experienced users take a look at the whole thing. i will post the whole thing, or email it to you, whoever wants to help.

Was it a folding error or an OS error ?
Posting a short version would be helpfull.

You really need to check for stability before you start folding.
The normal way is to run a couple of loops of Memtest86 followed by 2-24 hours of Prime95.

Luck......... :D

Post and I shall interpret. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I couldn't tell you the last time I was drunk much less drunk and on the computer as it has been a long time. Hell, I haven't even had a drop of alcohol in almost two weeks and I have a feeling that isn't going to change tonight either.

Anyway, to be on topic, just post a bit of the error message here so we can get an idea of what is going on. Also, you need to stress test the system after an overclock to make sure everything is running right. We don't want Stanford to receive bad results due to an unstable overclock. Since it's OS independant, memtest is an easy one to run to make sure the RAM is going to handle the overclock. I'm not sure what you can grab to test the processor, though, since you are running linux. I don't know if Prime95 has a linux version or not. I've never actually looked to see if it does.

hey, my bad, not a 100Ghz oc, i ment 100 megahertz, but im sure you figured that our. as far as system stability and the overclock i know that it is not that as i have had it at that oc before for like a week and ahalf and it is rock solid and fine. anyways here is the error.

Other than seeing F@H trying to replace the core as noted, it looks like everything is on the up and up. If that core isn't working properly, try deleting it and having it redownload it completely, and if it won't redownload, see if one of the linux guys can send you a copy.

Edit: I just noticed the early end. As others have noted, try running completely stock, no OC, run a memtest and make sure that thing passes. Just because your OS is stable doesn't mean F@H isn't running into a problem not apparent to the naked eye.

Although it looks like it downloaded the new core FahCore_65.exe, you may want to delete all the cores and let the client get them again as it needs them. I've had that problem with a system that was rock stable but was killing proteins. After deleting the cores and letting the client get them again, I haven't had any trouble.
