My fathers PC recently crashed while he was playing a game.
Here is the strange part. It will post with one beep like usual, register OK on the CPU and RAM but when it tries to load into Windows the screen goes blank and the monitor goes to standby mode but the HDD LED stays on. He said that while playing his game he heard a click or popping noise right when the computer turned off.
Sometimes I can get it to boot into windows, but If I have to restart, it does the above all over again.
So I tried to install a fresh copy of windows with a new Hard Drive, I got it working, but it started BSOD'ing on me and now it won't start just the same.
I have swapped the RAM , Video Card and taken the soundcard out to see if any of those were causing problems. They were not.
The Computer is old...AMD 939 old.
Do you think that the motherboard is going out? or could this be a Power Supply issue?

I saw this on another website, and I have had to restart the computer mulitple times to get it to boot up.
"A bad, failing, or inadequate power supply is often the cause of this issue. If the hard disk drive is not getting enough power during the first time the computer starts, it will be unable to spin the hard disk platters fast enough to start the computer. However, if you restart the computer two, three, or more times, because the platters are already spinning, it is able to get the drive up to speed and able to boot off the drive.
If you're encountering this issue after installing new hardware in the computer, it's also possible the power supply in the computer is not supplying adequate power to the computer. For most computers we recommend you have at the least a 300-watt power supply.
Our first recommendation is to replace or replace and upgrade the power supply in the computer".
