I'm trying to get an old rig working again after having it sit in my garage for a year (I know, not the best place to leave it). First the specs:
Antec Truepower 500
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
Geforce 7600GT
Athlon 64 3000+
After dusting it off and plugging everything in, I tried to boot and got what sounded like one long beep followed by three short beeps. This code apparently means a video issue, but I was skeptical of the video card dying, so I unhooked the power, took out the video card, dusted it off a little more thoroughly, and plugged it back in, making sure it was firmly seated.
When I plugged the power back into the PSU, all of the fans immediately started up briefly and then shut down. When I tried the power button on the case, nothing at all would happen.
The weird thing though is that the motherboard has a light that comes on to indicate it has power, and this light is still on, so I can't tell if it's a PSU or motherboard issue or what. I don't know why the indicator light would be on if either weren't functioning, but nothing else seems to be able to get power so I'm stumped. I've thought maybe the case power switch is at fault, but that seems about the least likely thing to break. Anyone have any ideas?
