Hey guys never really overclocked before looking to overclock my E6600 Core 2 2.44GHz processor. How to i go about doing this? My current system specs are below:

Nvidea 8800 GTS 512mb
500gig HDD
4gig of DDR2 RAM 800MHz
E6600 Core 2 2.44GHz
650W power suppy
Windows Vista Home premium (32-bit)

Need some advice on how to do this EG what to download, how far i should think about overclocking the processor etc :)

oops you forgot the MB . As the bios settings for the MB is where you will do you OCing work we need to know that.

If you want someone just to tell you what to set for a mild OC thats probably all needed.

If you actually intend to learn something and do it your self, read the bios section of your manual, over and over, google anything you dont understand, until you know exactly what (or at least have a very good idea) each setting does.

Download coretemp, memtest86+ (and burn a cd) and Orthos and if you are a gamer 3dmark. for testing and monitoring.

What heatsink do you have and what if any any other board prep have you done ?

Ummm its a gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6

I basically only want a quick solution before i upgrade to a new processor in a few months time.
