hi all,

So ive successfully built my first pc. It was stressful and very satisfying, learning a lot of things along the way. So ive been looking at various guides and articles about overclocking to make the most out of my q6600.

This is my system:

Antec 900
q6600 G0 Stepping
Gigabyte EP43-DS3L
Xigmatek HDT-s1283
Corsair XMS2 2x2GB
ATI HD 3850
...HDs, CD-RW ...

My problem with overclocking is that there is no standard guide to follow as there were when piecing the computer together. The bios are often different from person to person and it would be silly to compile a guide for each.

After reading the overclocking core2 guide in this section there are a number of things that i am confused and unsure about. I want to overclock my q6600 at stock voltage first but using the correct method so when i do muddle with it then i will know how to correctly.

From what i gather, this is that i need to do to my ep43-ds3l (in no particular order) :

Turn on thermal monitor 2 (TM2)
Turn off Enhanced Halt (C1E)
Turn off EIST function ------------------------------------------------ unsure what this is ???
Set PCI-E frequency to 100Mhz
Set PCI Clock Syncronisation to 33.33 Mhz ----------------Cant actually find it in the bios...
Set RAM timings to spec. manually ----------------------------5-5-5-18
Change the CPU Host Frequency to 333Mhz
Keep CPU Clock Ratio at 9X
Turn Performance Enhance to Standard------------------------Recommended in Bios

Check these photos of my bios

I dont think the other pages of the BIOS is relevant--Will post them up if required

Questions:

Are there anything wrong/ else i should change?

The voltages are set to Auto so shall i set them manually to current voltages?

I know its all a bit vague which is probably due to my "Noobishness" and my trouble of understanding a lot of the terms i have listed. So i am asking for your help to guide me to my first overclock :D

Thanks in Advance!
