ok this is my first build and im still learning what i need to do but i bought all new hardware and put it all in, everything is in right but the computer just starts then shuts off. could that be bad RAM stick? or is my power supply not enough?

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Brisbane 3.2GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125w Dual-Core Black Edition Processor

NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT

CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

RAIDMAX Scorpio ATX-868WBP Black 0.8mm Japanese SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

350W PS

thats what im thinking is that i dont have the power for all the HardWare i have.

Any Ideas?

This is a common problem, sounds like an incompatiblity between the PSU and motherboard. I've had this issue as well. You didn't name the PSU, but it sounds like a cheapo unit at 350W.

I would assume it's a lack of power to your system. You could get by with a 450 OR 500 watt power supply. Antec or Dyno's are common in most electronics stores that carry PC components, and are pretty descently priced. I bet if you picked a new PSU up, it would be right as rain. :D

thanx guys i really need to get my Rig up and running, and i was hoping it was just the PSU and not a very expensive fix, i think i will get a fully Modular Ultra / X-Connect, I've herd good thing about them and im always looking for ways to clean up the wires in my comp. since i have a window now...

Try running the computer with just 1 stick of ram. But I think it is a bad psu imo

ya i did that as soon as i had the problem, i figured that one of my sticks was bad but i ran them in another computer of mine and they work fine

Also make sure that you have the Heatsink/fan mounted correctly with the fan plugged into the correct spot on the motherboard. If not it will shut itself down almost immediately if the temps spike.
