I just built a new system for my sister and it wont boot. The lights and all the fans come on, but no bios boot screen.

I'm thinking incompatible cpu. But, I havent found a definate cpu support list for the mobo, but it states am2+/am3 so i assumed it would work.I'd like to hear what the gurus think.

I baught these components.

Didn't find the sticky very helpful.Searching the forums helped a little, but far too many posts.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the cpu.
Wether a bad cpu or incompatible.

I've tried one stick of ram from 2 different vendors.
Different video cards.
Reset the cmos.

I don't have another cpu to test if it is definately the cpu or not, so thats a no go.
Pretty sure the mobo would support the cpu with a bios update, but cant boot to do it.

Everything is connected fine, not my first build.

Was just hoping someone would save me some time.

Newegg states the mobo is am2+/am3 but the manual only says am2+.

Double check to make sure that no loose screw, bolt, nut, etc is under the mobo. In fact, make sure that nothing is shorting the motherboard.

Your next step if the above doesn't work is to get either another mobo or an older AMD CPU for you to boot and update the BIOS with.
