Looking to be able to build a quad core system with 8GB of RAM in a small form factor.
Something like this Asus http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10006988
would work i believe.

I am not going to put any video cards in. Maybe just 2 Hard Drives, 1 CDROM, external Sata storage and win2k8 server. Going to run some VMs and other.

I am looking to do it as cheaply as possible and was hoping i could find a barebones such as the asus i linked for closer to 150$ if its at all possible. I have found barebones that do 4GB ram max but i really need to hit that 8GB mark. Thanks for any direction.

You should probably read this review of that Asus barebones:

I recommend getting this combo:
Antec NSK1380 mATX Case with 80Plus 350W PSU - $77
Foxconn G33M Intel G33 mATX Intel Motherboard - $85
---
Total: $162 Plus tax and shipping

According to Newegg, there are only two barebones out there that support the Q6600 for under $200. One is the Asus you linked to and the other is this MSI:

However, that MSI barebones only supports up to 4GB of RAM. But the review of the Asus barebone you linked to was not exactly praiseworthy. So I highly recommend just going with the combo I linked to above. Also, the selection of mATX motherboards that can support up to 8Gb of RAM is rather limited:

Great info there, thanks. May head in the direction you set.
