Okay, my dad's computer just got fried from a faulty PSU or something.
What I have:
PSU, Case, Videocard, monitor.
What I need:
CPU
Mobo
Ram
Soundcard(I think i'll get a chaintech envy24-based one since I have one and it works great)

What he use it for:
websurfing, word processing, spread sheets, stock analysis. Nothing intensive here. No games either.

Budget: Below 400 and hopefully as cheap as it can go without being too obsolete. I haven't been checking computer stuff for half a year since I ran out of money so I don't know what's the budget system anymore. I don't want a duron or anything that obsolete, I hope for something along the lines of an athlon socket 754 type since he needs a new mobo anyways. Not really sure about budget along the intel side since I haven't checked in a looong time, although intel is welcome as well.

Overclocking: Overclocking is fine with me as long as it gets performance for less money.

thanks alot

2600+ mobile
512mb of PC3200
NF7-S rev2
a decent hsf (si97 or something)

and then see what's left over

i'll see what i can do with a sempron rig though...haven't taken a look at that..

edit: argh..always a minute behind

hmm...what about..
AMD Sempron 3100+
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb Motherboard
512mb PC3200

Sempron is best bang for buck at that price level. Maybe a 3100+ with a Epox 8KDA3J or something. Total cost for MB/CPU is like $175. 1GB of Value Ram might cost $90 or so.
