Need help CPU/MoBo combo

A little. I would like to get to 3.5 with Option a and 4.0 with option B

1680x1050 ( DUAL 20" Samsung 206bw) They suck and will be upgrading to this 27" 1920x1080 2ms Samsung within the next year
Will also hook this up to my Samsung PN64D7000 (64") and play GW2 in 3D sometimes! lol
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Within the next week
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.

Let me explain first the problem and the need to upgrade....
1. Hudge GW fan and with GW2 release looming I want to play it at MAX. 9800gt is not going to cut it.
2. My mobo is limited to 4gb ram + ddr2 is slow... HD video editing eats that alive
3. My Current HD configuration has my 2 X 320s with 26gb of free space. I plan on making the single 500gb my main and the 2 X 320s back ups where ill store all my HD videos, pictures, and music.

What am I thinking about doing:

I had posted this earlier but after reading this article I realized that the i3 is superior than the fx4100. I am pretty sure that I am going to go with the gtx480. But now i'm thinking i'm going to go with the i3 now, and upgrading later.

While the i3 is definitely faster than the FX4100 in games, it's gonna be slower than the FX4100 in video editing and such. So what matters more to you? Gaming or video editing performance?

If you do go for an Intel platform, you're gonna have to ditch this RAM as the max RAM voltage recommended for Intel CPUs is 1.5V. That RAM is rated at 1.65V and therefore may end up harming the CPU. Hence that RAM's relatively low price compared to similar speed RAM but rated at 1.5V : it's really only usable on an AMD setup. Not to mention that Intel platforms do not benefit from higher speed RAM. So you wouldn't notice a performance difference between DDR3 1866 and DDR3 1333 with an Intel platform. So go with this RAM instead:

Big problem is that we don't know for sure which mobos will actually support the new Ivy Bridge CPUs. Remember that CPU support is mostly due to the motherboard manufacturer. Virtually every motherboard manufacturer is a bit inconsistent as to how their mobos will support new CPUs. I.e Sometimes it's only the high-end mobos that get such support or just some of the high and low-end mobos or just the mid-range mobos. Or just a random selection ranging from low to medium to high-end will support new CPUs. So if you really want to upgrade to the new Ivy Bridge CPUs in a year, you're gonna have to wait another month or so for us to really know which mobos will actually support

Really appreciate your help. I changed the RAM out to 1.5v and i'll probably wait on the new cpus. Appreciate the MoBo tip.

One more question and I'll leave you along. lol
