Hey all,

I need help building a PC. I want to use the PC for multitasking and gaming (but not hardcore). I would like to keep the PC as cool as possible.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
I will be using this pc for gaming, programming, and multitasking.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
My budget is $1200 after taxes. I Can go slightly over budget if needed
3) Where do you live?
New York
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc.
Everything, except a mouse, keyboard, and windows 7.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?

6) Will you be overclocking?
Maybe in the future
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have on old 19" LCD, but I plan to purchase a 23"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

Honestly, I don't know.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Can you provide some details on the kinds of games you play as well as the types of programming you do? Notably if you plan to be doing some large compiles of code or rendering/processing large amounts of data (on the gigabyte scale, etc)

On another note, it might be good to hold off for a bit. There's still some blowback from the Intel recalls so the market is kinda weird at the moment.

I mainly play shooters and strategy games.

In regards to programming: I won't be doing any large compilation or working on any large projects any time soon.

I heard about the Intel recalls, but I can't wait until late March / April.

CPU cooler in a review I read, was a little better than the idolized Thermalright 120 extreme.

The case has plenty of room, and a good airflow setup.

Can change it a little, if that's too far over your budget, I know wiping out one of the 1TB hard drives will save about $60 if you only need one?

Yeah, I only need 1TB for now, and I don't need a blue ray drive.

Since I will be ordering tomorrow, I can take further suggestions (if anybody has any).

Some changes that I would do to Outmyhead's build:
- Ditch the Core i7 870 and go with the Core i5 760:
$210 - Intel Core i5 760 CPU

The performance difference between the two in games does not justify the extra $80 for the i7 870.

- You can get this equal quality, if not better, and larger PSU for $4 less than the 650TX:
$100 - Antec Truepower New TP-750 750W PSU

- At $260, that GTX 470 card is simply overpriced. I recommend these cards instead:
$220 - Sapphire 100314-2SR Radeon HD 6870 1GB PCI-E Video Card
$253 - PowerColor AX6950 1GBD5-2DH Radeon HD 6950 1GB PCI-E Video Card

- This HSF has a better bang for the buck value than the Frio:
$30 - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus HSF for LGA 1366 and LGA 1156

- Case wise, the Corsair 600T is an excellent case. However there are other case options:

Glad you liked my choice of case, going off of Thermaltake lately, my sisters comp from Christmas was the last one I used, now leaning towards Corsair, and the Fractal cases.
