Need help building a new SFF Rig

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming, I’d like to run counter-strike source on the highest resolution / gfx settings getting above 200fps on average. Also would like to run COD and BF3 once released
2. What's your budget? 600-700 (already have a hard drive)
3. Where do you live? I’d like to order all parts from newegg
4. What exact parts do you need for that budget? I’d like an I5 / I7, 4 – 6 gigs of ram, defiantly would like to use an ITX mobo. The silverstonr sugo series s605bb with 450 watt psu looks like a great deal on newegg. Would like GFX card to support blueray movie / hdmi output / mini hdmi output.

5. If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Online run Nvidia gfx cards due some issues in certain maps with lighting.

6. What specific features do you need in a motherboard? Don’t need anything special in regards to raid, firewire, or sli. 3.0 usb would be nice.

7. What resolution output do you need? 1080p (I do not need a monitor)

8. Does this system need to fit into a particular space? The case must be able to be brought onto a plane as my carry on. It will also be hooked up to my big screen as a median center when I’m not on the road

9. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring? I can do small modifications internally to cases if necessary. I would like to put a after market air cooler on my system.

10. How important is the noise/silence of this sytem? Noise level is not a problem

11. How mobile does this system need to be? Very
12. Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? I have windows 7 32 bit

13. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Within the next couple weeks
 
Do you have access to 64 bit Win 7?

If not, you will run into an issue as the desired 4 - 6 GB of RAM will not be fully utilized.
 
Did you like the Sugo series because of the FF or because its ultimately a small case. Reason I ask is because a Lian li q07 with a better quality PSU would be about the same cost (give or take 10 bucks) & there have been several reports of the silverstone 450w being flaky.

What is the reason behind the aftermarket cooler. There are no mITX intel boards that would allow you to OC & the stock intel cooler is typically very quiet (not to mention compact & cools nearly as well as most any other SFF cooler)

Edit: also you can download win7 64 bit (same version as your 32 bit) & use your current key so you dont have to buy anything else to get 64 bit.
 
I've found that the stock heatsink on my i7-870 Lynnfield runs very hot. I'd like to keep it as cool as possible. As for the case it needs to be small enough to fit in a carry on compartment of a plane. I have a LIAN LI PC-V351A Silver Aluminum MicroATX Desktop Computer Case and its way way too big.

Really I had an i3 & it was no warmer with the intel HSF then it was with anything else (not overclocked) also of note though is that the 155 chips run cool.

As for the case the v351 is pretty large.. The q07 way way smaller.

I have to agree that the Q07 is much smaller. I am building one right now that is using the i5 2500k (My first incarnation will be using the IGP and the K chip has better onboard graphics) chip and I will be using the stock cooler. All reports say for stock speeds it works just fine. And since you only need a graphics card that can do movies/bluray, the small case doesnt hurt you for a graphics card. Galaxy has a GTX 550 Ti that should fit without interfering with the front USB ports. Or you can use the HD6750/5750, GTS 520, etc.
 
Palit has a 560 ti that fits..

Price wise I keep coming up to about 730 inc shipping for a i5-2400 w/ a 560 in either the sugo or the q07. Sugo has better airflow, but the q07 looks better & has a better PSU.
 
the Palit GTX 560 non Sonic will fit. The sonic version with 2 fans appears to be longer, so I doubt it will. The EVGA GTX 570 hasnt got a hope in hell. That thing is at least 9.5 inches long and more likely over 10 inches long. Q07 is only 8.19 inches deep.

I would say the most power card that would fit is the Palit GTX 560. And you will likely have to give up the front USB ports to do it

the GTX570 HD is 9 inches long. Whether it will fit or not is a difference case :p


EDIT: it also will not fit due to the single slot bracket of the Q07. ;(

Well, even at 9 inches its still almost and inch too long to fit in the case. Thanks the length update-couldnt find it and judged by the picture.

As for the single bracket-just mod the case. I have seen lots of that done!
 
Yeah the shoot is a common mod on this case.

ah... I probably shouldn't of passed a Q07 offer up, then :( The fullsize ODD bay and normal PSU makes is the perfect HP Slimline replacement for the situation I'm in :)

is there a less expensive video card that will fit without suffering much in-terms of quality and performance?
 
okay so I decided to go another route...found a 2500k for 100.00 from a friend barley used only problem is It does not come with a heat sink. My question is what after market cooler can I buy that will fit in the Q07?

Just about any HTPC type cooler will work. Doesnt have to be killer. I have a Q07 with the i5 2500k in it and the stock cooler is keeping it under 46C, even when being loaded up. And the fan never went over 2400rpm.

The Scythe shuriken rev b is supposed to clear the PCIe slot, and the XIGMATEK Durin D982 should work as well. Good luck!
