building a new rig, need help on building it. i am mostly using this rig to game. i have built computers before and have lots of experience with them so i will just need a little help with what products to use.

so just basically list what you would buy if you were to have 1300 bucks.

Mouse, keyboard, display? What are the other uses of the system? Are you willing to wait for the new Peryn processors to come out? Dual graphics cards an option in the future?

Presuming that you were to buy now, you could get something like this (just tower):
Coolermaster CM690 case
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
EVGA 680i board, or Asus P5N32-E SLI, or no SLI, P35 board, like the Abit IP35 Pro
8800GT
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB drive
Any DVD drive

Yea like Lamboman said, we need more info like:
- What parts do you need for that budget?
- What size monitor do you have? Or plan to buy?
- When are you planning to build?
- Will you be overclocking?
- How often do you upgrade?

- What parts do you need for that budget?
i need every part besides the display
- What size monitor do you have? Or plan to buy?
im planning on buying a monitor soon but i am concentrating my money towards the computer itself ( already have another monitor i can use in the meanwhile)
- When are you planning to build?
it can be as soon as a week for me to build the computer but as for right now i dont really know im just making plans and gather up information about different possible builds and choosing one
- Will you be overclocking?
Yes i will, i want the most performance out of my parts because i am a hard core gamer. if you would wish to know i play alot of games as in Bioshock,doom3,vanguard,COD4 and other pc games.
- How often do you upgrade?
my current build is a 3400AMD processor, asus a8n mother board, 6800GT apg,and 1 gig running at 400mhz i believe, so i basically i upgrade every 2-3 years.

for the mouse and keyboard i am soon to get a razor mouse(diamondback), and for the keyboard most likely will be the g15.
some other uses for the system besides heavy gaming usage will be using a program called sonar producers edition, but thats really it.
as for the peryn processors i think i will be able to wait but im reading up on them as of now (any link to this will be great)
and most likely i will be using SLI in the future.
if i wait 2-3 more weeks my limit will increase to 1600$$ but that will be my max that i will spend.

and btw the g15 and diamondback is not included in the 1600$.

Do note that SLI is only needed if you're playing at 1920x1200 or on a 24"+ monitor at max settings. If you are planning on buying a 24" monitor or bigger, wait until Nvidia's 780i chipset comes out. The current 680i chipset doesn't support Penryn, or Yorkfield, quad-cores and has trouble OCing. So hopfeully the 780i will fix all those problems.

Also, what size monitor do you have? You forgot to answer that part of my question.

currently i have a 19" but i think of upgrading to dual 20" widescreens soon
very useful information your giving, havent had much time to read up cause of school and gaming :p

You will need a 64bit OS in order in to use all 4GB of RAM, so hence why I went with Vista 64bit.

I did not include a case because thats a personal choice item. What may look good to me could look like shit to you. SO go find your own case. Here's a few recommendations though:

i got another question seeing that you put 4 gigs running at 800mhz, would 2 gigs running at 1066 mhz be any better ot will the 4 gigs out perform the 2 gigs?

Faster RAM won't yield any real world performance increases with C2D systems. So 4GB of DDR2 800 RAM should be enough.

If you don't need RAID, drop down to the DS3L:

$86 - Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35

Be sure to get the Q6600 from Danny's clubit.com link -- they guarantee the G0 stepping which requires less voltage and runs cooler (good for OC'ing).

Basically, a $1300 system includes roughly the same stuff. I would suggest that you get the HX520 instead of the 620, it is plenty for an SLI 8800GT setup. Otherwise, you are really good to go.
