Hey ladies and gents. Hope your having a good day.

Just posting some bits and parts of a new computer I am makin'. Just wanted to know what you guys think and maybe some of your guys insight might just save me some cash. Just for our insight... I'm making this Computer with "best bang for your buck in mind".

First things first: you chose the wrong RAM type. That X38 motherboard only supports DDR2 RAM, not DDR3 RAM. So switch out the RAM for this:
G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $80

Second, you're missing a power supply. What power supply are you planning to use with this build?

Third, your motherboard link leads to the Q6600.

And a few more questions:
- Will you be overclocking?
- What size monitor do you have?
 
The build sounds very good to me. However, I would like to know if you ar eplanning on increasing the size of the RAM that will be in your build, and, I also have the same questions as Danny Bui about the size monitor, overclocking, and etc...

Made changes to the spreadsheet accordingly. Just doing this as a little exercise to see if there is anything i could change before I purchase all these pieces tomorrow. Thank's =)
 
You still haven't answered the three questions that I asked.
 
a) I am using a antec 550w Power supply right now that I plan to recycle

b) I plan on overclocking

c) I have a 24" HD LCD display
 
looks like a good setup to me. I wish I could afford a quad for my upcoming upgrade, but I think I will be stuck at dual core.
 
If the Antec 550W power supply you're reusing is over two years old and/or based off the TruePower 2.0/SmartPower 2.0 series, then I strongly recommend getting a new PSU. (The latter two brands are known for their frequent, random failure -- even though they weren't at full load.) A good PSU nowadays would be something along the lines of the Corsair VX550.

You may want to consider getting the HD4870 instead of two HD4850 cards. You should also avoid Sapphire, which has worse-than-average customer support. (Horror story time: The last two Sapphire cards that I've had died on me... as in, worked one day, and not the next.) Consider the VisionTek HD4870, which has a limited lifetime warranty.

How many hard drives were you going to reuse? If you're only going to reuse one hard drive and one optical drive, then you could save yourself some money by going with a cheaper case, in the form of the Antec Three Hundred. Pick up a couple of Yate Loons or Scythe Slipstream fans and you'll be set.

Tiraides - I have a 300GB Hard drive that came with a media center PC 2 years ago that I plan on using. If thats a good idea I have no idea but the point is I will be using only 1 hard drive.

I updated my computer with the new specs... I appreciate all your guys help.
 
Which specific hard drive and power supply were you reusing? And how old is the power supply?
