Need Confirmation: SLi 2 cards different memory sizes

So if you SLi w/ cards with 2 different memory sizes, then it defaults to the lower memory card correct?

ie. 580 gtx 3gb + 580 gtx w/ 1.5gb, then available memory would be 1.5?

tried doing some searches, but didn't come up w/ anything

That's how it used to work. I remember this being listed as a capability of the 8800GTS 320MB and the 8800GTS 640MB.

Not sure if the current drivers will allow it anymore, though...
 
If it works at all it would be 1.5GB.

Solution: Sell the 1.5GB card and buy a 2nd 3GB one.
 
Agreed. I don't think you'll see the benefit of the 3GB card when it's SLI'ed to the 1.5GB version. You should still get a fair amount for selling the original 580.
 
Just waiting on the 3 gb to come back instock w. Out going overseas...thanks for the info

Yeah, gotta have that killer PhysX card for his setup. I wish I had his money but either way the dude is coping the best he can with his hardware obsession. I'm just sitting back and watching his builds cause they are monstrous. :D
 
No room for a 4th haha, my stx fits perfectly sandwiched in between on my classified
