Hey guys,

I have the free version of Avast. I was browsing some fishy websites, and I know this since Avast popped up telling me that stuff was getting blocked about 3 times, once was even a Trojan and I got outta there ASAP. That was earlier today. Afterwards, I was surfing with Chrome and I got a pop up on IE and was like "lol? That's weird". Then later I was playing Bad Company 2 and got some weird choppiness twice for about 5 second periods. After exiting the game, I have an IE popup ad.

I did a Full Scan with Avast! and with Windows Defender and both said my system is clean, and I know it's not. I'll be just reading an article or something and the Windows 7 equivalent of the hourglass will appear and I'll hear my harddrive spinning up/down. I KNOW something is in there. What should I download and scan my system with? Am I paranoid?

Use all four:
Malwarebytes
Avira or Microsoft Security Essentials
Spybot S&D.
Hijackthis (post the log file it generates into www.hijacthis.de). You can figure it out from there.

And for a little overkill:
Super Antispyware.
 
We have a stickied thread atop this forum...named "How-to Guide for Virus/Trojan/Malware Removal"

A lot of time and effort was put into that, with contributions by many. Pretty much every good tool and technique under the sun is in in that thread.
