I have been looking into upgrading my system for a while. My buddy wants to sell me his mobo/cpu/ram. all for $300.
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188039 (EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI x58) He said he had it watercooled and said he put the heatsinks back on after he was done using the board. What are your thoughts on this older chipset? and is it likely that I might run into some problems with the replaced heatsinks?
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225 (i7 930) Are there any major differences between this CPU and a newer sandy bridge?
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220498 (Patriot Viper II Sector 7 Edition 12GB DDR3 1600)
He wants to sell me all this for $300. Would you guys jump on this deal? My budget is $700 so that leaves me about $400 left over for a video card. Its either buy this from my buddy or go to newegg and get an i5-2500k w/ mobo combo and also some RAM which would leave me with about $200 - $300 left over for a video card.
So those are my options, what are your opinions on which would be the better/smarter build? Thank you.
