Suggestions? I'm wanting to get a new one to play battlefield 2.

I'm leaning towards the 6600gt, I need an AGP card. Is there a comparable or better ATI card in this range?

Thx

6800nu is under $200. One was going on Newegg for $165 I heard  . 12 pipes vs. 8 and has a 256-bit memory interface. A better card overall than the 6600GT.

Get a 6800nu, it is faster than a 6600GT by a fair amount and if you can unlock, well it helps to say the least.

I just recently got a 6800nu (as in yesterday) and I'm blown away by its power once I unlocked and OC'd a bit, comparable to my my X800XL (though not once I OC the X800XL, because then boys, that thing just flys).

Im not seeing the 6800nu on newegg.

I just posted a link to one above...

The 6800 kills the 9800 Pro, and is decently faster than a 6600GT. The 6800 is the best buy right now in graphics card, IMO.

I would hope so...

These are the requirments (subject to change though)

Windows XP (Win 2000 and WinME not supported), Pentium 4 1.2 GHz CPU with 256 MB RAM, GeForce 3 (64 MB RAM) video card with DirectX 9 support, Broadband Internet connection, DVD-ROM drive.

If you have a little patience, you might be able to find a used X800 Pro for around $200.

try to find a geforce 6800 vanilla. aka regular.

sometimes you can find them on the internet for about 200.

here..

how about 194 dollars after shipping.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130202&CMP=OTC-pr1c3watch&ATT=Video+Cards

and its from newegg. which is nice.

a 6600GT btw will smoke a 9800

and a 6800 will beat a 6600GT

so a 6800 should server you VERY well.

plus the ati cards do not support pixel shader 3.0
they can only do 2.0
its not super important right now but i do like having it reguardless.

enjoy

so will this card play bf2 good? Like Medium or better settings? Thx for the replies

Demo runs good for me with everything but textures on high.

I also agree with teh 6800 Vanilla card they are pretty cheap.. now Compared to all the other high priced cards..

The 6800 and 9800 Pro and 6600GT are really in different price ranges. The 9800s are about $125 on the Egg, the 6600GTs are a bit over $150, and the 6800s are slightly under $200. The only model I wouldn't consider is the 6600GT. It's performance isn't leagues above the 9800, which is now really a budget card, and stepping up to a 6800 for $20-$30 provides a good performance boost.

I would disagree and say that the 6600gt performs well for those not looking for extreme power as well as a low-end/mid-range card offering some great features. The 9800 should and hopefully soon will be put out to pasture.

If I was buying a new card and didn't want to spend much, I would go with a 6800.

There's a very very small difference to me between a 9800 Pro and a 6600GT when actually playing a game.

There's a very nice and noticable different between a 6600GT and a 6800nu/regular.

The 9800 Pro, is still a great price at its current $120~ price point. And the 6800nu is a great card at the $190~ price point. The 6600GT is just an odd apple out to me, it had its place when the 6800nu was still up around $300, but now that the 6800nu is so cheap now it just doesnt make sense to me to get a 6600GT.

Did you search for 6800nu?

Cause it's not there!

I don't know why people insist on adding that nu at the end. Took me
awhile before I figured out that they basically meant "plain 6800"
ie: Non ultra, non GT, etc

Because you have lots of peopleing getting the 6800, 6800 GT, and 6800 Ultra mixed up. NU helps make it clearer.
