Need a new SSD quickly

Well my power connector melted for whatever reason. Took out my SSD. I need to pick one up locally to get it going tonight. Wife uses it to pay bills etc. Here are my options,

I'm replacing a m4 256.

Local options id consider (staying clear of ocz, Kingston etc)

Plextor m5s 256gb - $200
840 256gb - $200
M500 - 240gb - $200
M5pro 256gb - $245
840 pro - $245
840 500gb - $370

Everything else is N of $400, which I don't really need the space. I was getting tight on my 128GB, but now have all DLs going to
A 1 TB hitachi, I also have a WD MBL 3TB nas, and Synology 1813+ with 4 x 3tb reds in R6.

These prices are CDN before you have heart failure. Price really doesn't matter, but don't want to just throw money away either.

I'd go with any reg 256 gb SSD, not unless your wife needs the speeds to be a tiny bit faster for an extra 45 bucks, and since your not really tight on space you don't really need a 500gb SSD

Yeah. I used the PC for gaming with a few games (skyrim, dishonoured etc). But not gaming right now. 2.25 kids (one on way lol), and more work then I know what to do with.

Have you check your PSU to see if the rails are running in spec?

Those pins that were shorted are 5V, 12V and Ground, according to:

Double check that the plug isn't dodgy, or you could (safest if no warranty), cut the plug off and use a domino connector to separate all the wires. Wrap it in PVC tape.

Yup Check the power supply first. No point plugging in a new SSD and facing the same problem again.

Is your PSU in warranty ? I so i would contact retailer that you psu damaged youd ssd. maybe it would be possible to go refund for that ssd. I had a situation that an external hdd bay burned whole pc. Literally.
It caught on fire for wharever reason after about month since that pc was built. Retailer paid for rebuild new pc.

The evo 840 is supposedly really good performance for the price
