I think my motherboard just went belly up. I get no display or post of anykind.

not looking to replace anything else, I am broke, but I need this PC up ASAP (microcenter links appreciated newegg is cool and pretty quick too)

need at least:
4 ddr3 slots
2 pci-e slots
5 sata connectors

would be happy with a 4pin power that's not way up on the top (my radiator blocks them usually).

Thanks!

I take it that $90 shipped is your limit?

Are you planning on overclocking with your new board? Using CrossFire or SLI?

(The reason why I asked the last question is because the boards you're considering are x16/x4. The cheapest dual x8 board I could find on NewEgg costs around $125.)

nah, no crossfire. I have a gtx480 and an ati 5450 that just powers a third display so the x4 is sufficient.

I did OC a bit on my old board, but just fsb and cpu voltage, if the new board has limited features, I won't be too tore up.

I just want cheap, but not so cheap it's a waste of money.

I have a x16/x4(6850 CFX) mobo and seems to run fine other than BF3 stutter issues.

I would go ASRock over MSI..... seems like a MSIs are dying after so many months. Read the eggviews.

is the a970 chipset significantly better than the 880g?

I cannot find a decent priced board locally with the a970 which is why I ask. If it is worth the day or two wait, I'll make due, but I'd rather not :)

Before I drop in a new board, what's the odds that this is a cpu issue? (power up, but no display, post, sounds, or anything). I had been running the cpu in the high 50's a bit this week, but I didn't think that was significant.

just throwing that out there before I spend ~100 on a board.

Hmmm, if you haven't already, hit up the stickied "Basic Troubleshooting Guide" and follow the directions on what to do when the PC does not POST. Report back with your findings.

And yes there is a very small possibility that it could be the CPU.
