I've got a thermaltake Toughpower 1200W PSU and just picked up a GTX 295. The GTX295 wants 46amps on the 12v Rail.
I'm looking at the manual for my PSU and I'm not exactly sure how to cable it for the new PSU.
There are 4 12v Rails on the PSU.
Here is a pic of the configuration:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...maltake Toughpower W0133RU 1200W Power Supply
The manual suggests that if you have a video card that needs two power cables...to feed them both off the same 12v Rail.
There are 2 6-pin connections and 1 8-pin connections on 12v3
There is 1 6-pin and 2 8-pin connections on 12v4
The info in the grid on the PSU states that 12v3 is 36amp and 12v4 is 36amp.
So should I connect BOTH the video cards power sockets to either 12v3 or 12v4 like the PSU manual states....however it seems (although I'm sure I'm not understanding this correctly) that would mean I'm only getting 36amps and the video card wants 46amps.
Or...
Should I connect one power lead to 12v3 and the other to 12v4 and my 12v rails will be the 'total' of the two cables thus giving me 36amps plus 36amps.
I apologize in advance if my question is confusing....I'm a bit confused by this whole thing.
Thanks!
